Dublin’s record-breaking run may come to a halt as their odds drift in tandem with Jim Gavin’s exit.
According to bookmaker Paddy Power, news of the football manager’s shock departure this afternoon had an instant impact on the 2020 Championship betting.
Within minutes of the announcement breaking, Dublin moved from initial odds of 4/7 out to 4/6.
Meanwhile Kerry were backed in from 7/2 to 11/4.
Ex-Dublin All Star Dessie Farrell is the bookie’s odds-on favourite at 4/7 to take up the mantle, with a significant gap to the second favourite for the role, fellow alumni Jason Sherlock at a price of 5/1.
Other names in the mix are Pat Gilroy, Mick Bohan, Declan Darcy and Paul Clarke.
“The capital city will be feeling blue in the run up to Christmas following news of Jim’s departure. Suddenly the search for six has become the chase to replace as the county board scramble to find someone to fill his shoes, and Dessie Farrell is hot favourite for the job” a spokesperson for Paddy Power.
