Paddy Power have suspended betting on Wexford hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald heading west to take over as the Galway boss.
Opening up as a massive longshot at 100/1 a little over a month ago, Davy Fitz has since been backed into hot favouritism for an unlikely move to the Tribesmen.
He was available at a short price of 5/4 this morning when a sudden run of bets saw his odds crash further, making him an odds-on shot (1/2) for the job before we were ultimately forced to suspend betting on the market as rumours continued to swirl about a possible appointment.
“It has been remarkable to watch the slew of support for Davy Fitz to become the next Galway manager. Just over one month ago the very notion seemed about as likely as Boris Johnson convincing the Queen of England to break the law,” a spokesperson for Paddy Power said.
The bookmaker also reported seeing some support for second favourite Francis Forde, who was backed in from 16/1 to 5/1 and Noel Larkin (20/1 to 5/1).
