The new Formula 1 season is shaping up to be the most exciting in a generation.
Lewis Hamilton has jumped ship from Mercedes to Ferrari, the Red Bull era of dominance appears to be over and we should have a genuine four-team battle for race wins from the word go.
Our tipster Alex Harris has looked into his crystal ball – as well as Paddy Power’s outright Formula 1 odds – and picked out a few fancies for the 2025 campaign. Let’s get into gear…
F1 2025 season predictions
Winner – Drivers Championship – Charles Leclerc (E/W)
Winner – Constructors Championship – Ferrari
Driver to Win a Race – Fernando Alonso

Winner – Drivers Championship – Charles Leclerc (E/W)
Paddy Power are paying three places in this outright market and it would be surprising if Charles Leclerc doesn’t at least secure the bronze medal.
Leclerc bagged the most points after last season’s summer break – four more than Lando Norris and 19 more than Max Verstappen – and he is one of the most consistent drivers on the grid, which could pay dividends if the multi-team battle for the chequered flag occurs on a round-by-round basis.
There are also question marks over a number of other contenders.
Red Bull’s struggles in the second half of last season means Max Verstappen faces a significant challenge trying to win a fifth-consecutive title and Liam Lawson’s ambition is likely to be bagging the odd podium.
Mercedes have been too slow during this era to suddenly start challenging so you can count out George Russell and rookie team-mate Kimi Antonelli, Oscar Piastri must close the gap to McLaren pal Norris and Hamilton could be forgiven if he needs a few rounds to get up to speed with his new team.
It could turn into a shootout with Lando Norris for the crown.
Winner – Constructors Championship – Ferrari
It is 17 seasons and counting since Ferrari last won the constructors’ championship.
The Italian team scored the most points in the second half of the 2024 campaign, however, and the addition of Lewis Hamilton gives them winning experience that they have been lacking.
If changing their front suspension concept from push-rods to pull-rods pays off then Ferrari could have the quickest car on the grid.
McLaren, last year’s champions, are the main dangers.
Red Bull and Mercedes lack experienced second drivers in their line-ups to compete for the title.
Driver to Win a Race – Fernando Alonso
Lawrence Stroll’s bid to get Aston Martin to the top of the tree has seen engineering genius Adrian Newey recruited from Red Bull.
Any impact from Newey is unlikely to be felt until the latter weeks of the campaign as the team are looking to capitalise on the changing regulations in 2026.
Aston Martin could only finish a distant fifth last season – a disappointing return considering their fine 2023 campaign – but Fernando Alonso remains one of the best drivers on the grid.
Any potential progression in the second half of the year could see Alonso finally bag that 33rd race win, although a little bit of luck would be needed as well.
