One of the most eagerly-anticipated races in recent Formula 1 history takes place this weekend.
The 20 drivers on the grid will be hoping to strike it lucky on the Las Vegas Strip as the United States of America stages its third Grand Prix of the season.
It’s fair to say the current campaign has been lacking drama as Max Verstappen has been utterly dominant, but this weekend could provide plenty of thrills and spills as a brand-new track and cold weather threatens to mix things up.
In order to fully capture the Las Vegas nightlife vibe, the race is set to take place late on Saturday night, which means an early start time for viewers in Britain and Ireland.
Formula 1 bigwigs didn’t exactly think things through, however, as late start times for qualifying and the race means temperatures will drop because Las Vegas is situated in the Nevada desert.
The threat of chilly conditions means the drivers face a proper challenge to get heat into their tyres, which in turn could lead to crashes aplenty. Safety car driver Bernd Mayländer will be busy!
Crucially, there will be action on the world-famous Strip as a large portion of the Las Vegas Boulevard has been incorporated into the street track, promising top speeds in excess of 210mph.
