Max Verstappen can seal his second Formula 1 drivers’ championship at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Red Bull superstar has won the last five GPs to build an incredible 116-point advantage over his nearest title rival, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, with just six races left on the calendar.

Red Bull buddy Sergio Perez and Mercedes’ Mr Consistent, George Russell, are the only other drivers in mathematical contention, but it’s a case of when rather than if Verstappen will be confirmed as top dog.
There are a maximum of 138 points available after the trip to Singapore so Verstappen simply has to beat Leclerc 22 points, Perez by 13 and Russell by six to bag the world championship this weekend. The latest Singapore GP odds can be found on the Paddy Power website.
Max Verstappen will win the drivers’ championship at the Singapore GP if…
- He wins the race with the fastest lap, Leclerc finishes eighth or lower and Perez finishes fourth or lower
- He wins the race without the fastest lap, Leclerc finishes ninth or lower and Perez finishes fourth or lower without the fastest lap or fifth with the fastest lap
Verstappen will become only the third driver in history to secure the crown with five races to go if he wraps things up this weekend.
Red Bull are on track to win their first constructors’ championship since 2013 but cannot seal the deal at the Singapore GP.
