I think this is a massive game for Morocco as they’ve, along with their supporters, been the story of the tournament. They’re interesting in that when they first got into the knockout stage they just made themselves really difficult to beat but I think as the competition’s gone on some of the players have showed they’ve got outstanding talent.
There’ll be a few scouts across the planet looking at some of these players and thinking, ‘Wow, we missed these ones.’ They will take this game, I think, extremely seriously. Croatia, not quite so much.
Teams like Morocco and Japan, they just look so much better than they did four years ago in the way they play, the way they’re organised, tactically, psychologically and physically. They’ve got some big boys in these teams and that might be why this has been such a good tournament because everybody can and has beaten everybody.
Morocco tried and tried against France but the gap in quality showed. Antoine Griezmann was sensational in the semi final, he was everywhere – absolutely everywhere! He’s always been a top player but even more so now. He’s a defensive midfielder as well now, he was making tackles in his own six-yard box! The cream always rises to the top though and it was a game too far for Morocco.
I think they will just want this a bit more. Croatia might be thinking, ‘We’ve been there, we’ve done that.’ I may be wrong but I think Croatia will probably make a few changes and try a few experiments. You know with Morocco, and all their supporters, they’ll just be going for it.
I’m going to go for this to end 1-1 at full time and for Morocco to win it in extra time, 2-1 or something similar. They’ve been a breath of fresh air and they’ve just underlined how the ‘smaller countries’ have really pushed on.
