NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
THOMMO: It’s right that we should leave the decision of whether Gareth Southgate stays as the England manager to the man himself.
He’s done well enough and he deserves that. I’ve been listening to the players’ comments and this team just a nice bond and that’s great.
There’s plenty of talent there and we’ve got youngsters coming through too.
Southgate has got us playing good stuff too, which is important. They get it forward when possible.
If we lose Southgate, major changes aren’t needed as there isn’t a lot wrong with it. Be careful what you wish for.”
Gareth Southgate replacement contenders
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been talked about as a possible Southgate replacement but I’d rather keep it as a British manager if possible.
Brendan Rodgers is in that category and he’s starting to get things right at Leicester this season after a difficult start.
He would be a good option and he has that same mentality as Southgate. He likes to play a passing game too.
However, I would like to see Southgate continue in charge of England.
