NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

All good things must come to an end and we’ve reached the culmination of the first round of the 2022 World Cup as Group G, hopefully, sends us into the knockout stages in style. It is, of course, Cameroon v Brazil and Serbia v Switzerland on Friday evening with everyone bar the Selecao still fighting for a place in the knockouts.

The second-placed Swiss are in the driving seat and will progress with a point. They’re out if Serbia beat them and Cameroon need to pull off a shock win against Brazil and hope Switzerland don’t prevail. Goal difference might also play a part so there’s plenty to ponder.

With both games on at the same time we thought we’d rustle up a mighty Multi Match Bet Builder for the last hurrah of the groups stages. Let’s take a look.

Cameroon v Brazil Bet Builder tips

TV: ITV1, RTE, STV

Both Teams To Score? No

The unknown quantity with this game is how Brazil approach it and what kind of starting XI they send out. Alisson is yet to save a shot in this tournament and the Samba Boys have kept consecutive clean sheets as a result of their sterling defensive work.

The Indomitable Lions looked pretty meek in their 1-0 loss to Switzerland but roared back from 3-1 down against Serbia to mean they’ve still got a chance on the final day. It’s four clean sheets on the bounce for Brazil now so, despite Cameroon’s goal glut last time and the fact they simply have to win here, I suspect they too might struggle to get a shot on target so we’ll kick off with Both Teams to Score? No.

Under 2.5 Goals

Despite Cameroon’s desperation for a shock win in this match the chances of them progressing even with a victory are slim. If bad news starts filtering through early this might turn into a bit of a procession.

For all of Cameroon’s early enthusiasm I think we can expect Brazil to ride the storm and gradually take control of the match. They don’t need to over-exert themselves and they’ll be content to keep Cameroon at arm’s length as the clock ticks down. This could be a bit dull so Under 2.5 Goals could be the way to play.

Richarlison to Score or Assist

One man who will be full of hustle and bustle is Brazil and Tottenham’s Richarlison. He set the tournament alight in Brazil’s opener with a brace which saw a combination of pure striking instinct and South American flair.

He was frustrated against the Swiss but he should have more joy against a Cameroon side who have shipped four goals in their opening two matches. With him the man most likely to be in the right places to tame The Indomitable Lions, Richarlison to Score or Assist could be a clever play.

Serbia v Switzerland Bet Builder tips

TV: ITV4, RTE

Serbia probably only need to beat The Swiss by one goal in this match to overhaul them into second position and into the last 16. That will be easier said than done though and Switzerland will be a tough nut to crack, as Brazil will attest following their 1-0 win on Monday.

Over 2.5 Goals

The thing that makes this match so exciting is the fact that Serbia have to do all the running, knowing that nothing other than a win will do. We can expect them to come flying out of the blocks and, rather than Switzerland keeping this nice and tight, this could be reminiscent of Serbia’ last match, that sensational 3-3 draw with Cameroon. As such I think it has to be Over 2.5 Goals in this one.

Aleksandar Mitrovic to Score Anytime

If Serbia are to win this then Fulham’s madcap hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic is surely going to have a key role. Mitrovic opened his World Cup account against Cameroon with a goal that he must have thought was going to see off the CAF side at 3-1

However, Cameroon fought back to tie the game at 3-3 to set up this final-day shootout. He’s been in excellent form for Fulham and relishes moments like this. It’s written in the stars so we’ll round off with Mitrovic to Score Anytime.
