Jordan Pickford has not been beaten in his last two games and will continue between the sticks against Senegal.

Kyle Walker returned to the XI against Wales after returning to fitness following groin surgery and looks set to keep his place after an assured display. John Stones and Harry Maguire have been as solid as a rock at the heart of the defence. Luke Shaw is nailed on to start at left-back.

The biggest dilemma facing the England boss is whether to continue with the midfield trio that started against Wales or include a more creative player in the engine room. Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham have started every game while safety-first Southgate could plump to continue with Jordan Henderson as the third man thanks to his experience and leadership qualities.

Marcus Rashford bagged a brace against Wales to become one of the early leaders in the Golden Boot race and has surely earned another start. Phil Foden, on the opposite flank, scored England’s other goal against Wales and looked dangerous throughout to justify calls for his selection. Harry Kane remains goalless and has yet to have a shot on target but the skipper has added three assists to his tally. It’s as likely as pigs flying that he’ll be dropped to the bench for this.

England predicted lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Henderson, Bellingham; Rashford, Kane, Foden
