- READ MORE: Mark Lawrenson sees both teams scoring when Sotuh Korea face Ghana in his World Cup Predictions.
South Korea began their World Cup campaign with a pretty dour 0-0 draw with Uruguay that saw zero shots on target for the entirety of the 98 minutes played. Ghana put in a spirited display against Portugal but didn’t have enough in the tank to salvage a draw, losing 3-2 on Thursday last. Both sides need to go for broke here, the Koreas still have to face Portugal while Ghana will go up against Uruguay next. Let’s get into the stats then and find the four best bets for a value-packed Bet Builder.

Both Teams to Score
With Both Teams to Score still priced over Evens at the time of writing we can quickly see there’s plenty of value to be gobbled up here. The South Koreans have scored at least one in 18 of their last 20 fixtures and there’s little to suggest they won’t keep that run going here.
Ghana have some strong goal-scoring stats too, the Black Stars have found the back of the net in 10 of their last 13 matches. With just one point on the board for Korea so far and none for Ghana both need to get something positive here and with their good records of goals scored we can certainly see both getting on the scoresheet here.
Over 2.5 Goals
Six of Korea’s last nine games have seen Over 2.5 goals landing and has been seen in two of Ghana’s last five as well. Both sides certainly have the talent to score at least two goals apiece here and indeed, may do so but rather than going for a riskier Over 3.5 goals; Over 2.5 seems far more likely and with the current price still well above Evens at the time of writing we’re again getting some good value for two teams with plenty of attacking talent.
Both teams simply have to go for it here and with so much attacking talent in both sides it’s hard to not see at least three goals landing here.
Ghana to Receive the Most Cards
Now, we wouldn’t call Ghana a dirty side, a most positive spin would be defensive-minded. However, their card stats would suggest they certainly don’t have a problem when it comes to taking opposition players to ground. Against Portugal they picked up four yellow cards and prior to their Group H opener had earned 12 yellow cards over their last five games against teams ranked above them and let’s just mention that Korea are ranked 33 places above Ghana in the current FIFA rankings.
Korea should have the majority of the ball here, the Ghanians will, like against the Portuguese, soak up pressure and attack them hard on the break but with them chasing the ball for most of the game we see them picking up more cards than their Group H rivals.
Son Heung-Min to Score or Assist
Son hasn’t had his best of season’s at Spurs this time around, scoring three and assisting two over his 13 Premier League appearances for the Lillywhites. He’s also scored two Champions League goals. Last season he scored a total of 23 Premier League goals and set up an additional seven.
Over his last seven games for the national side he’s scored a very respectable six goals and with much of the traffic going through him we fancy him to either score or create one against Ghana.
