Australia (+1)
Tunisia and Australia head into this clash on Saturday morning both knowing they really have to win after both failed to do so in the opening round. The Aussies stirred the hornet’s nest by taking the lead against France and eventually lost 4-1 while Tunisia huffed and puffed to a goalless stalemate with Denmark.
Tunisia are the big favourites for this match but I think we saw enough in both sides’ respective openers to think that this will be really, really close. I’m leaning towards a low-scoring draw but that’s not really any good for either. At the prices we’ll kick off with Australia (+1) in the handicap markets as we should, at least, be in the running right up to the final whistle.
Under 2.5 goals
While Australia stunned the French with their opener on Tuesday night they soon went under and struggled to hit back in any meaningful way. The goals was their only shot on target and they’ll be concerned that they didn’t really show too much on the break.
Tunisia’s blank against Denmark also saw them have one shot on target in a match the Danes controlled but couldn’t take advantage of. The Aussies defence will fancy themselves to keep it tight from here on out now their date with Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud has come and gone. Under 1.5 Goals might be a good play but as both sides need something from this we’ll a little go safer with Under 2.5 Goals.
While Tunisia were pretty toothless on Monday Youssef Msakni looked the man most likely to do something for them, cutting in off that left flank. He had three attempts, though none on target in that game, and he created two chances as well.
With the Aussie defence likely to be far more charitable than the Danish backline, we’re getting a nice price on Msakni to Have 2 or More Shots on Target, assuming he can find a bit more time and space in this match.
Australia to Receive the Most Cards
While both Australia and Tunisia were forced to give up plenty of possession in their opening games, it was the former who racked up the most cards. The Aussies received three cautions to Tunisia’s one, and that came late on in the match.
Denmark and France both had over 61% possession but it was the north African side who showed the better discipline. We are unlikely to see either team here have such domination of the ball but the Aussies have shown they’re more likely to get into the referee’s bad books so we’ll round off with Australia to Receive the Most Cards.
