Monday 4pm: Brazil v Switzerland
TV: ITV, RTE
Brazil to Win
Such is the power of Brazil, few teams have decent records against them. Yet Switzerland’s history with the five-time World Cup winners certainly isn’t bad. Prior to the clash at the last World Cup, they won a friendly in 2013, and though they lost in 2006, they won the meeting prior to that.
Among the 38 teams they’ve played more than five times, only against Netherlands do the Brazilians have a lower wining percentage than the 33% they’ve posted against Switzerland. But enough with the history lesson, let’s consider what might happen on Monday afternoon.

Brazil were very impressive against Serbia. They outshot them by 22 to five, and 8-0 for efforts on target. Neymar had four goal attempts and set up a further three, so will be missed here thanks to the ankle injury he sustained. Such is their strength in depth, the absence of the PSG preener shouldn’t be felt too keenly though.
The Swiss got their campaign underway with a 1-0 victory over Cameroon. Although it was a much tighter contest, they deserved the three points. It means they’ve won four of their last five matches, a spell including victories against Portugal and Spain.
This game should be close. If Cameroon and Serbia draw earlier in the day, a stalemate here wouldn’t be the worst outcome for either side. You must back Brazil to Win though. How can you go against a team that has won it’s last eight matches, and 13 of 16 since their last defeat?
Both Teams to Score
Switzerland have enough about them to get on the board with a goal to settle a Both Teams to Score selection though. While this will obviously be a sterner test, they had three clear-cut chances against Cameroon and only four of the other 31 teams had more in the opening set of fixtures.
They’ve also scored in their seven Group Stage games across the last three World Cups. It’s in the knockout phase where they struggle with goals but you can rely on them at this point. Brazil have conceded to South Korea and Tunisia in their last five games so they certainly can to Switzerland.
Over 3.5 goals
And we have to remember that Tite’s side scored five goals against both of those teams to record very healthy wins, as well as putting four past Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay within their last 12 matches.
The Swiss defence is hardly riddled with holes but if Brazil score early enough they should be able to rattle in a few and take us past the Over 3.5 Goals threshold.

Richarlison to Score Anytime
Richarlison should be the man to score at least one of them. The Clark Kent of club football becomes Superman when he slips into the famous yellow shirt of Brazil.
The 25-year-old has yet to score in the Premier League for Tottenham despite making 10 appearances (five starts) for them. Yet he has scored in six of his last seven games at international football, tallying nine goals in that spell.
You never know, the greatest league in the world™ might just be more demanding than facing Tunisia or Ghana. But that doesn’t matter to our man here, as Richarlison can keep his healthy Brazil record going with a goal against Switzerland.
Vinicius Junior Anytime Assist
Vinicius Junior assisted Richarlison’s golazo against Serbia, and the Real Madrid man was his side’s top chance creator on the night with four key passes. While not an assist in the true sense, it was his shot which led to the opening goal of the game too.
The absence of Neymar – top assist provider in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying competition – means others will need to stand up. Vinicius Junior can by setting up a goal to round off our Bet Builder nicely.
