Short-Priced punt: Switzerland to Win

Switzerland and Cameroon get the party started in Qatar on Thursday with their crucial Group G clash. With Brazil widely expected to top the group there’s likely to be just one place in the knockouts realistically up for grabs for the other three sides.

The Swiss are Paddy’s big favourites but I think it might be a bit closer than the odds suggest. However, I’ll back Switzerland to Win as The Indomitable Lions are in pretty poor form with just two wins from their seven games this season.

Switzerland have had some questionable performances this season but those have come in friendlies. They always show up at the major tournaments so we’ll back them to kick off with three big points.

Value Play: Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals

There’s a good chance we see a few goals here. The Swiss have seen both teams scoring and over 2.5 Goals in both of their competitive games this club season which includes a win over the Spanish in Spain. Cameroon are a bit all over the place but both teams have scored in their last two matches.

It’s those Swiss numbers that are sticking out to me, though. They’ve conceded in all four games they’ve played the season and scored in three of those. Cameroon will be confident that they can score then but the Swiss might have the nous to win regardless so Both Teams to Score and Over2.5 Goals looks appealing here.

Long Shot: Breel Embolo to Score Last

Monaco’s Breel Embolo will likely lead the line for Switzerland and the 25-year-old has been amongst the goals this season.

He’s bagged eight goals in all competitions for Monaco this campaign and he also netted in Switzerland’s last two Nations League games against Spain and Czech Republic.

Embolo has scored last on those two occasions and we fancy him to do the same here.
