Paddy Power World Cup Tipping Competition: Meet the challengers

It’s almost upon us. The best on the planet are limbering up in intensive training camps, the heaving backroom staff are ensuring no stone has been left unturned and only the freshest cream is ready to rise to the top and emerge victorious.

We are, of course, talking about Paddy Power’s World Cup tipping competition!

There was some mighty competition for places on Paddy’s punting plane but we can finally announce our starting XI to take on the beautiful game in Qatar over the next few weeks.

Here’s the craic. We’ve strong-armed 11 of the best tipsters on the planet to put it all on the line for our World Cup tipping competition and we’ll be bringing you their shrewd wagers, who’s banging them in and eventually crown an overall winner following the final.

Your competitors are; Tip Man Tips, FreeSuper Tips, The Racing Post, James Murphy Tips, BetClever, Gambling Pro, BetWithJack, Oddschecker, Whoscored, Squawka and us here at PP News too. FIFA’s got nothing on that lot.

Here’s how the competition works. Our brave battlers will put up three selections (no shorter than even money) for each round of group stage games at the World Cup, three for the last 16, three for the quarters, two for the semis and one for the final.

Scoring will be based on A; whether the tip is correct, and B; the length of the prices of the winning selection.

The minimum odds on a selection is evens (any lower and they won’t be counted) – and then the grading system sees ONE POINT for winning selections between EVS and 2/1 , winning selections between 85/40 and 4/1 is worth TWO POINTS, and anything from 5/1 and up will be worth FIVE POINTS on our snazzy leaderboard.
