The late kick off on Sunday sees two Premier League title hopefuls in Arsenal and Liverpool face off at the Emirates in north London.
Both sides are hoping to beat Manchester City to the title this season and Sunday’s showdown could be an early indicator of who’s most likely to go all the way.

Arsenal are currently in the midst of an injury and suspension crisis. Martin Odegaard is expected to miss out while The Gunners could be handed a boost with the return of Bukayo Saka who is still a doubt for Sunday. Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber are also considered to be huge doubts with no timeframe of their return. William Saliba will also miss out on this clash due to his suspension after receiving a straight red against Bournemouth last week.

Similar to Arsenal, Liverpool also face their share of concerns going into Sunday, with Diogo Jota missing the trip against RB Leipzig during the week and is a doubt going into the weekend. Conor Bradley and Federico Chiesa are doubts. As of now, Liverpool will be without Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott.

In the last five games, a home game against Leicester would prove to be more difficult than anticipated, Arsenal initially took a 2-0 lead through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard before a brace from an unlikely source in James Justin made it 2-2. While it looked like the game would end in a stalemate, two injury time goals from a Wilfried Ndidi own goal and Kai Havertz rounded out a 4-2 win for the Gunners.
Matchday two of the Champions League then followed with a home game against PSG, two first half goals from Kai Havertz and Saka would be the only goals in the game to get their first three points in their Champions League campaign.
A home game against Southampton was the next challenge for Arsenal, with Southampton taking a shock lead against the title contenders. However, the lead only lasted 3 minutes with Havertz grabbing another goal for the Gunners to level the game. Goals from Martinelli and Saka in the 68th and 88th minute would end the game with Arsenal winning 3-1.
A difficult outing last week in the Premier League then followed, with Arsenal being reduced to ten men just after thirty minutes with Saliba pulling Evanilson down just inside his own half, with the Bournemouth striker through on goal otherwise. Two goals then followed in the second half for the home side through a left-footed Ryan Christie strike on the edge of the 18 yard box. David Raya would concede a penalty nine minutes later, which Justin Kluivert converted to settle the outcome of the game at 2-0.
Arsenal returned to Champions League action on Tuesday, returning to winning ways against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday. While the Gunners took three points, they were only narrow 1-0 winners through a Dmytro Riznyk own goal.

In Liverpool’s last five games, an away trip to Wolves would be the task for Liverpool, Ibrahima Konate would get his second goal of the season before Rayan Ait-Nouri equalised in the 56th minute. However, The Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, would convert a penalty five minutes later, which would prove to be enough as The Reds hung on to win 1-2.
On the following Wednesday night, Arne Slot’s side would face Bologna for matchday two in the Champions League. The Red’s quickly opened the scoring through Alexis Mac Allister, who met a cross from Salah to tap in after 11 minutes. While Bologna had chances during the game as well as a disallowed goal, Liverpool had that killer instinct in the final third which Bologna were lacking, Salah provided the second for Liverpool after 75 minutes, becoming the first-ever Liverpool player to find the back of the net in five successive home matches in the Champions League.

In the second half, Nicolas Jackson fired in a goal shortly after the break to even the game up, however this wouldn’t last long with Curtis Jones recapturing the lead for the Reds just three minutes later.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool travelled to Germany to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The Reds would continue their winning form and seal a 1-0 win, with Darwin Núñez netting the winning goal and to see them sit second in the Champions League table.

While this match appears challenging to predict on paper, this top-three clash will significantly impact the league standings early in the season. Both teams face off in a contest that promises to showcase the tactical acumen of Arne Slot and Mikel Arteta.
The Slot era is fully underway since Jürgen Klopp departed Merseyside in the summer. Liverpool has won their last eight matches, achieving seven victories in their eight Premier League outings this season. The Reds are also unbeaten away from home, boasting four wins from four in the league.
Liverpool secured their third consecutive win in the Champions League with a narrow 1-0 triumph away at RB Leipzig, courtesy of Núñez’s first-half tap-in. Conversely, Arsenal has lost only once in their last nine home fixtures in the Premier League, with their most recent defeat at the Emirates being a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa towards the end of last season. Despite their strong form, this match couldn’t come at a worse time for the Gunners. Last weekend, the North London side suffered a disappointing defeat to Bournemouth, which saw the usually reliable Saliba sent off. Saliba’s absence, compounded by other injury concerns, poses a significant challenge for Arsenal this weekend.
Captain Odegaard remains sidelined due to a serious ankle injury sustained during international duty. The Gunners will also have to manage without the injured Calafiori and Timber, both of whom are considerable losses.
On a positive note, Arsenal may welcome back Saka, who Arteta has missed for the last two games. Saka’s absence has been palpable, and Arteta will hope to have him available on Sunday, especially since Liverpool boasts the league’s best defence this season, having conceded only three goals, with just one of those coming away from home.
Arsenal has had the upper hand in recent encounters. In their last four Premier League meetings, Liverpool has yet to secure a win, recording two draws and two losses. The first match between the two last season ended in a 1-1 draw at Anfield, followed by a 3-1 victory for Arsenal at home in the reverse fixture. Saka, Martinelli and Trossard were the goalscorers, while Gabriel scored an own goal to equalise for Liverpool just before half time.
While Liverpool are undefeated away from home this season in all competitions, Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Liverpool on Sunday. Arsenal suffered a defeat to Bournemouth last week in the Premier League and will be without backbone Saliba due to suspension.
