3pm: Aston Villa v Leicester – Both Teams to Score? No

Aston Villa and Leicester’s return from the World Cup break couldn’t have been more different. Villa have been brilliant, taking ten points from five games to close in on the top ten.

Leicester, on the other hand, have been awful, taking just one point from their five league games since the World Cup in a run of results that has seen the gap between them and the bottom three close to just one point.

Leicester have failed to score in three of those five league games and look extremely short of ideas up front. Villa, meanwhile, have kept two clean sheets in their last four games, successfully shutting out Tottenham and Southampton.

Villa are yet to keep a home clean sheet since the World Cup but could set that record straight on Saturday afternoon.

3pm: Brentford v Southampton – Under 3.5 Cards

Brentford and Southampton are both near the top of the Premier League’s disciplinary table.

Brentford boast the league’s sixth-best disciplinary record, picking up 28 yellow cards in 20 league games at a rate of fewer than 1.5 per game. Southampton have committed the fourth-highest number of fouls per game in the league this season, but that has not translated into yellow cards.

The Saints are just one place behind Brentford in the league’s disciplinary table, picking up 32 yellow cards 20 games.

It is unlikely that Saturday’s game will be a feisty affair.

3pm: Brighton v Bournemouth – Kaoru Mitoma to Have Two or More Shots on Target

No Premier League team has faced more shots than Bournemouth. Their record of 16.1 shots faced per game is the worst in the Premier League, while their record of 42 goals conceded is also by far the worst defensive record in the division.

Those statistics should be music to the ears of Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma, who has been in sensational form of late.

The Japanese knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup with a brilliant improvised finish late on last weekend, while he also scored a brilliant goal against Leicester a week earlier.

Mitoma averages just over a shot per game in the Premier League this season but should easily beat that average against such a porous Bournemouth defence on Saturday.

3pm: Man Utd v Crystal Palace – Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

Crystal Palace are the only team that Marcus Rashford has failed to score against in the Premier League since returning from the World Cup.

The Manchester United forward has scored five goals in six league games since the World Cup, while he has scored 10 goals in 12 games in all competitions.

It’s hard to remember Rashford being in better form at any point of his career and it’s also hard to see Palace keeping him out on Saturday.

Rashford has failed to score in his last two outings at Old Trafford but only featured as a sub against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup mid-week and was unlucky to see a goal ruled out by VAR against Reading in the FA Cup last weekend.

United have won 12 games on the bounce at Old Trafford and Rashford’s form has largely been responsible for that run.

They are likely to rely on him again on Saturday.

3pm: Wolves v Liverpool – Over 2.5 Goals

Liverpool and Wolves have met twice in recent weeks, with Liverpool prevailing in an FA Cup replay at Molineux after stealing a draw at Anfield at the start of January.

That win at Molineux was one of just two clean sheets that they have managed in any game since the World Cup.

The defensive solidity that has been associated with Liverpool since the arrivals of Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson in 2018 has completed disappeared.

They have conceded 13 goals in nine games since the World Cup, while they have conceded 25 goals in 19 league games, a huge fall off from last season when they conceded just 26 goals in the league all season.

Wolves are the lowest-scoring team in the Premier League but look far more threatening since the arrival of Julien Lopetegui.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see a game similar to 2-2 draw at Anfield in the FA Cup last month.
