I don’t see why United shouldn’t be title challengers now.

You wouldn’t have expected at the start of the season that Arsenal would be near it but they’re right up there.

They’re the in-form team in the league and City have been a bit up-and-down even if we all know how good they are.

But United look like the third best team at the moment.

They’ve won eight games in a row now, the latest in the Carabao Cup where they’re through to the semi-finals, while City were knocked out of it in midweek by Southampton.

There’s no way to dress that up – it’s very disappointing. Southampton are bottom of the league!

City had Grealish, Mahrez, Gundogan, Walker all in the team. They were good enough to win that game.

They brought on De Bruyne and Haaland too, so they wanted to win it and it’s not how they’d want to head into a derby with United playing as well as they are.

On the flipside, sometimes when they lose they come out all guns blazing in the next game.

They’re still playing well – they beat Chelsea twice last week – and they’ll have the big guns back in here.

I still think City should have too much for United in the end but it’ll be a good game and I can see both teams scoring for sure.

Erling Haaland will be back in the starting line-up for Pep Guardiola on Saturday I’m sure and I’s expect him to link up with Kevin de Bruyne to deliver at least one goal – if not more.

For United, Marcus Rashford’s back in great form. He’s come back from Qatar full of confidence and he’s as good as anyone when he’s like that.

    NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

There’s never been any doubt about his talent, but I know from experience, sometimes, when you’re struggling for confidence, it’s nice to get that break with England in a different set-up.

He should cause City a few problems on Saturday.

These aren’t the derby games of old exactly, but you’d still expect a bit edge to it. It’s the atmosphere around the games that gets to players and I can see a few challenges flying about at times.

United especially have to get about City to disrupt their plan and Casemiro should be part of that. I could see him ending up in the ref’s notebook.
