The wait is over – Euro 2024 is finally here and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson’s giddy with excitement as the best in the continent gear up to go at it for the next four weeks.
Instead of kicking back and getting ready for the new club season he’s answered the international call and will be delivering his Euro 2024 predictions every bloomin’ day of the tournament right here on Paddy Power News.
First up is Saturday’s three games, Hungary v Switzerland, Spain v Croatia and Italy v Albania. It’s set to be a belting day so here’s how Lawro thinks it’s all going to go down with his crafty calls added in to a tasty treble for good measure. Take it away, Lawro.

I think Hungary v Switzerland will be a good, competitive game. The Swiss tend to do quite well at these tournaments and their players are spread out in all of Europe’s top leagues.
I fancy a draw with Both Teams To Score. Dominik Szoboszlai’s always a threat and Hungary are not bad, it’s not like a few years ago where you’d look at some of the games and just think, ‘That will be 3-0’.
Who’s going to score the goals for Spain v Croatia? They can keep the ball no problem but will they score enough? It’s funny, isn’t it, because looking at previews Spain hardly get a mention, it’s just people wondering what’s happened to them! I’m going to back Spain to win this though.
This will be comfortable for Italy v Albania you’d think, although they do sometimes underperform against the supposed lesser teams. They need to get back to the level where they were a real threat to everyone. Italy should win this by a couple of goals so Italy (-1) looks good.
