STAR PLAYER: It would have to be the aforementioned Çalhanoğlu but one worth keeping an eye on is Galatasaray’s Muhammed Akturkoglu who scored 12 goals in Gala’s successful push for the Turkish title this season, and bagged a few during qualification as well. Real Madrid’s Arda Guler, while inexperienced at the top level, could really make a name for him at the tournament too.
HOW THEY GOT THERE: Turkey topped a tricky-looking Group D, winning five, drawing two and losing one, beating Wales and Croatia along the way.
HOW WILL THEY DO: They certainly have the players and firepower to get at least six points in the Group Stage, but with France a possible Last 16 opponent their run could come to an end there.
BEST BET: We’re backing Turkey to get two wins from their games against Georgia and Czech Republic.
