Are Portugal Serious Contenders to win Euro 2024?
When you look at the quality of players Portugal have in their squad for the tournament, its hard to argue against them being in the shakeup come mid-July. The 2016 winners were the only team to finish qualifying with a 100% record winning all 10 games, scoring 36 goals and conceding only two.
Euro 2020 ended in disappointment after losing to Roberto Martinez’s Belgium in the Last 16 but the Spaniard is now in charge of Portugal and they go into this summer’s tournament in red-hot form and with a point to prove.
Are Turkey or Czech Republic best placed to challenge Portugal for top?
It’s a bit of a toss-up between Turkey & Czechia (apparently this is their new name) for strongest challenger in Group F. A lot of interest for Turkey will centre around their 19-year-old talent Arda Guler who scored six goals in 10 appearances for Real Madrid this season and, of whom, Carlo Ancelotti speaks very highly.
On the balance of things, I feel the Czechs will be a tougher opposition to breakdown and have a better overall balance to their team going into the summer tournament.
If Patrik Schick can find some more of the goal-scoring form he displayed at Euro 2020 when he finished the tournament joint leading goal scorer (5) with Cristiano Ronaldo, they have every chance of qualifying from Group F.

Can Georgia be competitive in their first tournament?
The Crusaders will make their major tournament debut on June 18th after first beating Luxembourg in a play-off semi-final and then Greece 4-2 on penalties to qualify Willy Sagnol’s men for Euro 2024. Although this the country’s first appearance at a major tournament, they’ve had representatives at previous editions of the Euros as part of the old Soviet Union nations.
Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be the focal point of the team but they have other options going forward like Budu Zivzivadze and Georges Mikautadze, who scored vital goals for them throughout the qualifiers. Having said that, I think the other teams in Group F will have too much for Georgia and I don’t see them picking up a win from Group F.
Euro 2024 Group F Betting Tips
Cristiano Ronaldo to be the Golden Boot Winner
Write off CR7 at your peril. At the ripe old age of 39, Euro 2024 will be a record sixth appearance at the finals for the Portuguese talisman who already holds the record for most goals (14) and appearances (25) at the tournament.
On the back of another record breaking season (35 goals and 11 assists in 31 games for Al-Nassr), Ronaldo collected his 14th Golden Boot award (3 La Liga, 1 Serie A, 1 Premier League, 1 Saudi Pro League, 1 Euros & 7 Champions Leagues) and I will be backing him to add number 15 at Euro 2024.
Portugal To Reach the Semi-Finals
I think there is value in Portugal reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2024. If they are to top Group F as anticipated, then they would play one of the 3rd place finishers from Groups A-C.
They would be strong favourites to win that game and would have a favourable draw again in the quarter-finals as they would play the winners of the Last 16 tie between 2nd place from Group D (potentially Netherlands or Austria) and 2nd place from Group E (likely Slovakia, Romania or Ukraine). In summary, Portugal could avoid any of the pre-tournament favourites until the semi-final if the groups pan out as expected.
