Tuesday night features some cracking games as the Champions League last 16 gets rolling with a Madrid derby included in the 8pm kickoffs. Real Madrid’s reward for once again ending Pep Guardiola’s European dream is a knockout stage battle with arch foes Atletico Madrid.
Los Blancos famously downed Diego Simeone in two Champions League finals back in 2014 and 2016, but Atletico are as battle-hardened as ever, with the pair also jostling with Barcelona in the La Liga title race.
Ahead of the game, our tipster Feargal Brennan has whipped up a bumper Bet Builder. Let’s get his Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid betting tips.
Two of these picks are also covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, which means that if your man is substituted, the pick carries over to his replacement.

Strap yourselves in for a cracker in Madrid on Tuesday night as Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid meet for the third time this season! Both La Liga meetings ended as 1-1 draws and Atletico are currently two points ahead of Carlo Ancelotti’s defending champions at the top of La Liga – with Barcelona leading the way by a single point.
Four of the last five league meetings have ended in a 1-1 score line, and this clash is expected to be just as tight, with both teams seeing three of their last five games played in all competitions feature under 2.5 goals scored in total.
A tight game with plenty at stake will mean battles all over the pitch and this fixture is no stranger to a few cards being thrown around. The last 11 league meetings have featured four or more cards being shown and that looks likely once again.
Simeone and Ancelotti will look for their main men to create chances and Kylian Mbappe is the focus for the hosts with 28 goals scored so far in his debut season – including seven in the Champions League – with four of those in the two playoff games with Manchester City.
However, the Atletico Madrid wall will be thrown up at the Bernabeu, and a shots option looks a better call. Mbappe has managed two or more efforts on target in three of his four Champions League appearances since the start of 2025.
For Atletico, Julian Alvarez came off the bench to nick a late winner against Athletic Club at the weekend, and the former City star is shining in Madrid with 21 goals scored. He’s hit two shots on target in his last three appearances, but with the visitors expected to create less, that can drop to one at the Bernabeu.
