Top of the pile, Liverpool travel to Girona on Tuesday evening looking to extend their lead in the Champions League standings.

The big question surrounding this match is whether Arne Slot will play his strongest XI. There are enough players in his squad, though, who will want to play here. I’m thinking of the ones rotated in the midfield areas: Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis MacAllister, Curtis Jones, Dominic Szoboszlai, and Harvey Elliot. You would imagine that two of those five mentioned come in here.
You could see him leaving Mohamed Salah at home, too, considering their attack and the young players they’ve got. Even if he plays two or three players from the Under 23s here, I still think that backing Liverpool to win here is a great bet.
It’s like when Chelsea rotate in their European games. There’s so much quality in the Liverpool ranks at the moment that we don’t even know Liverpool’s best team yet. We don’t know Man City’s best team yet, and arguably Chelsea’s, too. The top sides now all have 20 top players they can rotate.
I’ve watched Girona twice this season in the Champions League. They’re one of those teams that have had all of their best players sold off, and they probably shouldn’t even be here. With all due respect to their players and their fans, getting to the Champions League was the mountain for them. When I’ve watched them, they’ve looked off, so even with a second-string Liverpool side, they should be winning this one.
Of course, you’d have to look at the team sheets before putting you’re money on but I really fancy Liverpool here.
