Celtic to Win
It’s hard to back against Celtic right now given the form that they find themselves in both at home and in Europe. The new format of the Champions League really suits Brendan Rodgers’s side, who has already recorded handsome home wins over Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig.
The Hoops have won their last six matches across all competitions and have been doing so in convincing style. Across their 16 wins in all competitions this season, only one has been achieved by just a single goal.
Brugge, meanwhile, have already lost away to AC Milan in this competition while they have failed to create more than 0.7 xG from open play across their last three European games, suggesting that two wins to date flatter them.
Nicolas Kuhn to have 1+ Shots on Target
If Celtic have spread their threat equally across their front line in the Champions League so far, their man in form is winger Nicolas Kuhn.
He may have failed to manage a shot of any description in his first three Champions League starts for the Hoops but he has come alive in the last month. He has scored four goals in his last three starts, including two against RB Leipzig in his previous European Cup outing, and has had at least one shot on target in seven of his last eight appearances.
Kuhn may just be Celtic’s most dangerous player.
Christos Tzolis to have 2+ Shots
Brugge’s threat is likely to come from right winger Christos Tzolis, who has a long history of mustering at least two shots per match. Indeed, he has embraced the big occasion this season, managing at least two shots in each of his four Champions League outings to date.
Away from home, he managed a couple of efforts against AC Milan, both hitting the target, while he had three shots on target and four shots against Strum Graz.
With 12 shots in the Champions League and six on target, he has twice as many efforts in both categories than anyone else on his team.
Brandon Mechele to Commit 1+ Fouls
Looking at Brandon Mechele’s stats in the Belgian league, this might seem like a strange bet given that he’s committed just 0.67 fouls per 90 at home, but in European football, when Brugge don’t have the luxury of 60% possession on a near-weekly basis, he starts to struggle.
Mechele has committed a joint-high seven fouls in four games. Not only has he been committing fouls, but he has also been doing so steadily. Across these fixtures, he has committed two fouls on three occasions and once conceded just one. With this in mind, he looks strong value to continue that run at Celtic Park.
Celtic to have to Most Corners
Celtic will approach this game with an attacking attitude, and that territorial domination is likely to see them win a higher corner count than their opponents.
Rodgers’ side are one of the best teams in the competition when it comes to winning corners. Over their first four matches, they have picked up 26, which comfortably places them among the best ten clubs in this regard.
On the other hand, Brugge have won only 15 corners across their four fixtures, and have picked up fewer than their opponents in each of their last two.
