Kickoff is at midnight in the UK and Ireland – heading into the early hours of Wednesday morning – but Argentina hosting Brazil is 100% worth the lack of sleep!
The Samba Boys face the old enemy looking to overturn a winless run against them stretching back to 2019 but Lionel Scaloni’s team can clinch their automatic World Cup spot with a win.
Our tipster, Feargal Brennan has dived into the markets for both sides ahead of kick off and whipped up his five legs for a Bet Builder. So, let’s get into his Argentina v Brazil betting tips.

Under 3.5 goals
Despite their respective reputations for tearing into each other and scoring wild amounts of goals, the most recent meetings between Argentina and Brazil have been tight battles, decided by the odd goal.
Argentina are unbeaten in their last four games against Brazil and the last seven head-to-head encounters have registered under 3.5 goals scored in total. Recent form is also key, with only one of Argentina’s last 12 games overall breaking that barrier and one of Brazil’s last nine.
Argentina to win
So, if we are to expect a close bout – who is the favourite to win? Following their Copa America title defence last summer, Argentina have not been perfect, with two qualifier defeats in the autumn on the road in Colombia and Paraguay.
However, they are still top of the CONMEBOL rankings – with nine wins from 13 overall – and they have lost just one out of six qualifiers on home soil. Brazil have won just two of their six away qualifiers so far, so the vote goes to the hosts to get the job done.

Julian Alvarez to score or assist
No Messi….no problem? Leo is absent through injury and so is Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez. So that meant Julian Alvarez led the Argentina attack in Uruguay last week as Scaloni’s team sealed a 1-0 win in Montevideo.
Despite not scoring in that game, Alvarez has found the net in two of his last three home games for Argentina – against Chile and Bolivia – and he will spearhead the hosts attack on the back of netting 23 goals in his debut Atletico Madrid campaign.
Rodrigo De Paul to commit 2+ fouls
Alvarez’s clubmate Rodrigo De Paul was rested for the Uruguay game with Scaloni confirming his intention to bring him back in against Brazil. The 30-year-old will be itching to get stuck into the likes of Joelinton and Co. and he is a strong option to commit a few fouls.
He averages one foul per 90 minutes, based on his last five Argentina appearances, and that is mirrored by an average of six in his last six games for Atletico. With the stakes high, I’m backing him to go charging into a few Brazil stars, and get right on the referee’s nerves.
Raphinha 1+ shots on target
Raphinha has been leading the trash talk coming into this game and he will be a big threat for Argentina on the back of some sensational form at Barcelona. A whopping 27 goals is by far his best-ever club campaign and he has four goals in his last four games for Brazil.
However, three of those came at home, so a scorer pick looks like a slight risk. With six shots on target in his last five appearances for Brazil, he will look to pepper the Argentina goal, and test out the always lively Emi Martinez.
