Football Tips: Your 11/1 Acca for this Weekend’s WSL action

We've got three value picks for this weekend's women's football.

We have a busy weekend in the Women’s Super League , with the highlight coming on Sunday lunchtime as Chelsea go searching for revenge against a Man City side that extinguished their unbeaten streak on Wednesday.

Football tipster Andrew Cunneen has dived into the best fixtures to find three value picks.

With this being a five-fold Acca, too, Paddy’s footy acca betting offer kicks in, so we’ll get our stake back if just one leg lets us down.

Saturday’s WSL Footy Acca tips

Saturday, 2pm: Everton v Crystal Palace – Both teams to score, yes
Saturday, 5:30pm: Arsenal v Liverpool – Liverpool to win or draw
Sunday, 2:30pm: Man City v Chelsea – Under 2.5 goals

Heading into March, we were waiting for two key moments to arrive.

The first was a Chelsea loss, and the latter was a momentum-shifting victory at the foot of the table.

The first arrived by proxy, and the second came in no such disguise.

The battle lines have long been drawn, but the paths to a league title and avoiding the drop are now defined with narrative.

Everton v Crystal Palace – Both Teams to Score, yes

WSL match at The Marine Travel Arena, Everton
TV: Barclay’s Women’s Super League YouTube, Saturday, 2pm

While the race to avoid the basement slot has been a season-long slog, Everton finally put themselves in a position to suggest they’re above relegation.

Their season felt like it was building up to that game against Villa, and coming away with a result like that clearly injected a bit of belief back into them.

They held Arsenal scoreless for the opening 45 minutes last week, so three wins in their previous five looked to be the result of gradual improvement rather than an anomaly.

The Toffees can pretty much guarantee safety against Palace, where a win will put ten points between them with only five games to play.

And despite it taking up until mid-November for Everton to notch three points, they’re picking up form at the business end while teams around them are slipping. But Palace’s win over Villa last week will have them equally confident coming into a game where they feel like they’re not outmatched.

Expect this showdown to be the most confident either side have looked all campaign. And that normally results in goals.

Arsenal v Liverpool – Liverpool to win or draw

WSL match at The Emirates, London
TV: Sky Sports Football, Saturday, 5:30pm

I understand Arsenal at home can be seen as an automatic in WSL terms – even historically.

But do you really want to take a short price about a side who took an hour to break down Everton in their last league game, who went to Madrid and looked exhausted, and who also lost to this very Liverpool side in the quarter-final of the FA Cup only a fortnight ago?

Nobody believes this Amber Whiteley love-in will last forever, but in the interim, taking the Reds to ride the wave of euphoria of an Anfield win over their bitter rivals?

That’s a punt I’d like to be on the side of.

Man City v Chelsea – Under 2.5 Goals

WSL match at Academy Stadium, Manchester
TV: BBC One, Sunday, 2:30pm

With City overcoming Chelsea on the European front midweek – which was the second of four games the sides will contest against each other in a very short time – there’s a little more spice to this.

Up until now, Sonia Bompastor appeared to have just inherited Chelsea’s inevitability and gatekept their dominance.

But that blip in Manchester, their first defeat in 28 games, now looms large.

It’s likely too late for City to claw themselves back into the title race, but a result here at least opens the door for Arsenal and Man United to make it a nervy run-in.

Chelsea had scored in every game this season until their shutout in Manchester, and I believe the tension arising from that blank should carry over into a fixture taking place just four days later.

While analysing results in essentially an MLB-feeling four-game series is more of a toss-up, you should side with caution. And the unders is the best way to do it.
