Football Tips: Three continental clashes feature in Saturday’s Euro best bets

PP football tipster Oli Nixon has two Bet Builders for Saturday's European action.

With another, ahem, riveting international break on the horizon, there’s time for one more trip around European club football with bets involving shots, goals, fouls, saves, and cards to see us through the painful fortnight ahead.

Our European football guru, Oli Nixon, has picks for us from La Liga where Villarreal take on Real Madrid, and the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig taking on Borussia Dortmund, both of which are kicking off at 5:30pm. And then, at 8pm, we return to Spain where Girona face Valencia.

European football betting tips

5:30pm Villarreal v Real Madrid – Real Madrid goalkeeper to make 3+ saves, 2+ cards for each team & Sergi Cardona to commit 1+ fouls
5:30pm RB Leipzig v Borussia Dortmund – David Raum to commit 2+ fouls
8pm Girona v Valencia – Over  1.5 goals & Umar Sadiq to have 2+ shots

Villarreal v Real Madrid – Real Madrid goalkeeper to make 3+ saves, 2+ cards for each team & Sergi Cardona to commit 1+ fouls

La Liga match at the Estadio de la Ceramica, Villarreal
TV: Premier Sports and LaLigaTV, 5:30pm

Fifth-placed Villarreal host a Real Madrid side that can consider themselves a little fortunate to have made it to the Champions League quarter-finals in midweek. Four of the last five head-to-heads have produced five or more goals, so this one could be entertaining.

Across those games, Madrid’s keeper has made 10 saves, and he’s averaging 3.09 per game on the road this season. The saves part of this Bet Builder has landed in three of Madrid’s last four away trips, and with Villarreal forcing at least 3 in each of their last four at home, it’s an obvious angle to include.

4/7
Real Madrid Goalkeeper Goalkeeper To Make 3 Or More Saves

2+ cards for each team has landed in two of the last three meetings between these sides and in six of Real’s last eight away league games. The man in the middle, Jesus Gil, is averaging 6.77 yellows and 0.46 reds per game this season, which puts him at the top of the La Liga referee’s table on both metrics.

2+ Cards for Each Team Each Team Cards Shown

Sergi Cardona averages 1.25 fouls per 90 at home and has made at least two fouls in five of his last seven starts at Estadio de la Ceramica. He will be marking one of the most fouled players in Europe, Vinicius Junior. He made a foul in the reverse, and a repeat here will do nicely.

2/7
Sergi Cardona Player To Commit 1 Or More Fouls

RB Leipzig v Borussia Dortmund – David Raum to commit 2+ fouls

Bundesliga match at the RB Arena, Leipzig
TV: Sky Sports Football, 5:30pm

A top-of-the-table clash in recent seasons, RB Leipzig versus Dortmund is a meeting between the sides sitting 6th and 10th, competing for the most disappointing season. Only four points separate the teams, though, so a win for Dortmund can put them back in contention for European qualification.

David Raum is no stranger to drawing attention from referees, averaging 1.66 fouls per 90 in home games this season. Having recently returned from injury, he’s committed 15 fouls in his last six home starts, so he’s clearly out for some form of revenge.

In midfield, Raum will be dealing with Julian Brandt, Pascal Gross, and Salih Ozcan, with that trio having drawn 2.94 fouls per 90 this season between them. He’ll also be covering Karim Adeyemi, who’s one of Dortmund’s most dangerous players.

8/5
David Raum Player To Commit 2 Or More Fouls

Girona v Valencia – Over 1.5 goals & Umar Sadiq to have 2+ shots

La Liga match at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi, Girona
TV: Premier Sports and LaLigaTV, 8pm

Our evening game sees Girona host Valencia and the hosts be hoping to get themselves back into the race for the top six with a win whilst condemning Valencia back to the relegation zone.

One thing that these sides have recently had in common is goals. Girona’s last six games as hosts have all seen Over 2.5 goals, whereas Valencia’s last three away games have produced 16 goals. Between them, there have been two or more goals in the last 16 games involving these sides and in the last three head-to-heads.

2/7
Over 1.5 Goals Over/Under 1.5 Goals

Umar Sadiq has been a shining light for Carlos Corberan since arriving in January, with four goals in his last four games. Those goals have come from an average of 2.75 shots per 90 minutes, and he’s had two or more in four of his five starts, only failing against Barcelona.

8/11
Umar Sadiq Player To Have 2 Or More Shots
