Football Tips: Tuesday’s Champions League best bets include an 8/1 play

Our tipster Sam Farley sets us up for the Last 16 second legs.

The Champions League Round of 16 reaches second-leg time this Tuesday so here’s our tipster Sam Farley‘s best bets for those four games. They also add up to a cracker of an acca if you fancy a four-fold flutter.

Tuesday’s Champions League tips

5.45pm: Barcelona v Benfica – Raphinha to score
8pm: Inter v Feyenoord – Inter (-1)
8pm: Leverkusen v Bayern Munich – Under 2.5 goals
8pm: Liverpool v Paris St-Germain – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score first

5.45pm: Barcelona v Benfica – Raphinha to score

TV: TNT Sports 1

Right now the former Leeds man, Raphinha, is one of the best players on the planet and he’s having a monster season for Barcelona. He’s scored 22 goals and set up a further 11 in all competitions but it’s in the Champions League that he’s been at his best, scoring nine goals in nine games and tearing opposing teams apart.

Notably it was the Brazilian who scored the one goal in the first leg of this game, and crucially he’ll come into this game fresh, having not played at the weekend.

We’ve seen all season that he can be quite a patchy goalscorer. While his playing levels have been high, he often goes for back-to-back games, or longer, of scoring, before blanking for a couple of matches.

With confidence high after the winning goal at Estadio da Luz, we could be seeing another huge performance for Barcelona’s standout performer this season.

8pm: Inter v Feyenoord – Inter (-1)

TV: TNT Sports 2

At just under even money you’re getting a great price for Inter with a one goal handicap. They won the first leg of their tie with Feyenoord 2-0 at De Kuip and bring them home to the San Siro on Tuesday. Inter have been sensational at home this season, losing just two home games in all competitions and scoring in every single fixture at the San Siro.

They’ve scored a total of nine goals in their four home games in the UCL and face a Feyenoord team that they outclassed last week.

In that first leg Inter dominated nearly every metric, including possession and most importantly shots and shots on target, with seven on target being just shy of the eight that Feyenoord managed in the whole game. Inter have been averaging less than a goal per game conceded in Serie A and haven’t conceded a single home goal in this competition yet this season, and just one in nine games overall.

This is a strong defense and they should be able to limit the Dutch team’s chances, with Inter’s attack of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez having enough goals in it to cover the one goal handicap here

8pm: Leverkusen v Bayern – Under 2.5 goals

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports 3

There are some attractive prices on offer for whichever outcome you prefer for this game, but instead we’re going for the Total Goals marker and taking Under 2.5. The first leg finished 3-0 at the Allianz, with Harry Kane bagging a brace and Jamal Musiala also getting in on the action.

Leverkusen finished the game down to the 10-men and in their heart of hearts they probably know that they’re going home after this game. However, Xabi Alonso’s team will still give it everything they’ve got, while Bayern Munich just need to soak up that pressure and keep things tight.

The first leg got out of control for Leverkusen but on home soil and with a full 11-men they shouldn’t get dominated like Bayern did in that first leg. The pressure isn’t on Bayern here, they need to be smart and manage this game, so expect a solid defensive unit and one that looks to exploit Leverkusen on the counter with their pace.

Before last week’s game the previous three meetings between the teams had seen Under 2.5 goals and we’re likely to see a repeat of that here, with Bayern doing enough to see out the game and qualify.

8pm: Liverpool v PSG – Kvaratskhelia to score first

TV: Amazon Prime Video

Liverpool are favourites to win against PSG on Tuesday at Anfield and it’s no surprise that Mohamed Salah is the man with the shortest odds to open the scoring. That’s totally understandable given the season that the Egyptian is having but after witnessing the clinic that PSG put on against Liverpool in that first leg, you have to think there’s value in backing one of the away team to open the scoring.

Liverpool won thanks to a smash and grab goal from Harvey Elliott but that was only their second shot of the game and their first on target, whereas PSG had 27 shots and 10 on target, and truly dominated the game.

It’s unlikely that Luis Enrique’s men dominate Liverpool to the same extent as the first leg in which Arne Slot’s team had just 29% possession but they’re quick and fluid in attacking and their directness will cause problems for Liverpool. One man who could be a huge difference maker is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was outstanding in the first leg. He was unlucky not to open the scoring himself, with a goal ruled out correctly for being marginally offside.

Even excluding that effort, he had five shots in the game, more than anybody not named Ousmane Dembele, and four of them were on target, more than anyone else. If it wasn’t for some world class saves from Alisson he’d have scored multiple goals and with his jinking dribbling ability and smart movement within spaces, he’s underpriced to open the scoring here.
