Football Accumulator Tips: Our 9/1 punt for Saturday’s 3pm Premier League kick offs

Our tipster Sam Farley is all over the 3pm games in the Premier League.

After last weekend’s FA Cup action, the Premier League is back on the table this weekend.

Just three fixtures are set for the traditional 3pm slot: Brighton are hosting Fulham, Crystal Palace take on Ipswich, and Liverpool are at home to Southampton.

Paddy Power tipster Sam Farley has sized up three value picks here, so let’s get right into it.

Premier League Acca tips

Brighton v Fulham – Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals
Crystal Palace v Ipswich – Crystal Palace to win & both teams to score
Liverpool v Southampton – Southampton +3

Brighton v Fulham Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals

Heading into this weekend, Brighton and Fulham sit next to each other in the table with the Seagulls one place higher in the table in eighth thanks to a single point.

They’re quite similar in terms of goals scored and conceded, and both have had three wins and a defeat in their past four Premier League games. All of this is to say that it’s very hard to pick a winner, Brighton have home advantage, of course, but this Fulham side have been rather good on the road with only three teams picking up more away wins than them.

So we’re avoiding backing a winner and going into the goals market; here’s the reasoning.

When it comes to a Both Teams to Score pick, these are two teams that have seen plenty of goals this season. Nobody in the league has seen BTTS landing more that Fulham, who have had BTTS occurring in 20 of their 27 games, including six of their past seven away from Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, BTTS has landed in 66.7% of Brighton’s league games this campaign and in nine of their 13 games played at the Amex. We’ve also seen Over 2.5 goals in the majority of both Brighton and Fulham games, and we’re likely to see one team take the advantage and get three points here to pull clear of the other.

Crystal Palace v Ipswich – Crystal Palace to win & both teams to score

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have surged up through the table in recent months after a poor start to the season. They’re short-priced favourites to beat Ipswich, who are stuck in the relegation zone and five points from safety, and should get the win.

On the face of it, this team is flying. They’ve won eight of their past ten in all competitions, but dig a little deeper, and it will not likely be as easy as the odds suggest.

Palace have actually won just three home games in the Premier League all season, with the bulk of their wins coming on the road. They’ve also crucially allowed the opposition to score in nine of their previous home league games.

This isn’t to say they won’t win. Even without the injured Jean-Philippe Mateta, they still have greater attacking quality and have scored in their past 12 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Ipswich have conceded in their past eight games and are on the longest winless streak in the Premier League. However, while Palace should scoop up the three points, it won’t be easy. The away side have scored in all but three league away games this season and can be trusted to find the back of the net.

Liverpool v Southampton – Southampton +3

Betting against Liverpool in any way feels risky this season, let alone when you’re betting on the team sitting at the bottom of the league, but backing Southampton +3 on the handicap seems to be the smart play ahead of Saturday’s Anfield fixture.

The Saints come into this after 11 days rest, and should be in the best possible position to get something from this game, while Liverpool are playing just days after Champions League action.

That Champions League game is key, too, with their 1-0 smash-and-grab win over PSG giving Arne Slot a real warning ahead of next week’s return leg at Anfield.

Make no mistake, Liverpool were lucky to leave Paris with anything, and Luis Enrique’s team played them off the park for large parts, meaning that they’ll be acutely aware of the battle coming their way on Tuesday, and their minds could well be looking ahead at that game.

Realistically, Liverpool should beat Southampton, and even if they don’t, they have such a buffer in the league that it’s largely irrelevant anyway. Liverpool are still more than likely to win the title, but they’ve won just six of their last 10 in all competitions and show players are some signs of tiredness.

If the Reds are not fully focused, or Slot doesn’t rotate the team as he did against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup, they could slip up. Regardless, a fully prepared and rested Southampton have a great chance with a big handicap.
