We’ve got four Champions League games this Wednesday, including some pretty tasty match-ups. With that in mind, our tipster Sam Farley has studied each game to find the best-value bets and he’s come up with a suggested bet for each one.
Champions League betting tips
5:45pm Feyenoord v Inter – Gijs Smal to commit 1 or more foul
8pm PSG v Liverpool – #WhatOddsPaddy Ousmane Dembele & Mohamed Salah to have 2+ shots on target each & be fouled 2+ times each
8pm Benfica v Barcelona – Barcelona to win and Both teams to score
8pm Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen – Michael Olise and Florian Wirtz to both score or assist

Feyenoord v Inter – Gijs Smal to commit 1 or more foul
Champions League match at Stadion Feyenoord, Rotterdam
TV: TNT Sports/discovery+, 5:45pm
Feyenoord are 16 points behind leaders Ajax in the Eredivisie but, despite their domestic struggle, they’re having a memorable Champions League campaign. They beat AC Milan over two legs in the playoffs, defeated Bayern Munich and Benfica in the group stage, and left the Etihad with a 3-3 draw after being three goals down to Manchester City.
However, the reality is that they’re in trouble in this matchup with Inter. That is largely down to Inter’s quality, given they lead Serie A, and an absentee crisis that sees them missing more than 10 players. The main issue is that Robin van Persie is missing four central midfielders, Quinten Timber, Antoni Milambo, Jakub Moder and Hwang In-Beom. Against a midfield featuring the likes of Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who can dictate play, that’s an issue. They’ve had to move non-midfielders such as Gijs Smal into the heart of midfield, with the leftback playing in a central role over the weekend. Playing out of position in such a big game, against a team like Inter, makes him ripe to commit a foul that you can get at better than even money.
PSG vs Liverpool – #WhatOddsPaddy Ousmane Dembele & Mohamed Salah to have 2+ shots on target each & be fouled 2+ times each
Champions League match at Parc des Princes, Paris
TV: TNT Sports/discovery+, 8pm
You can’t beat #WhatOddsPaddy for a long-shot sometimes and there’s a cracker on the site for Wednesday, featuring two of Europe’s most in-form attackers, Ousmane Dembele and Mohamed Salah. We need both men to have two or more shots on target and both men to be fouled two or more times, all very doable at a big price.
We know all about Salah on these shores but it can’t be reiterated enough just how insane his numbers are right now. He’s scored 30 goals in all competitions. In the Champions League he’s had 3.28 shots per 90 minutes played, just up from his Premier League average of 3.19. In the league, a staggering 1.92 have been on target.
Over in France, Dembele has also had another wild season, with 26 goals, as he’s become PSG’s superstar post-Kylian Mbappe. He’s scored six times in just eight Champions League matches, and has averaged 1.82 shots on target per 90 minutes played in the competition, from a staggering 3.79 shots.
These are two of the hottest players on the planet right now, and they’re being treated as such by the opposition, with both men victims of the danger they pose. So we could easily see both teams take them down two or more times in the game. Given the big price and the ability that both have shown so far, this feels like a fun longshot to play.
Benfica v Barcelona – Barcelona to win and Both teams to score
Champions League match at Estadio da Luz, Lisbon
TV: TNT Sports/discovery+, 8pm
There are probably bigger games on Wednesday night but Benfica vs Barcelona could be the one to watch for neutrals. These teams met in mid-January and Barcelona won an incredible nine-goal thriller 5-4. We’ve taking a similar result here by backing the Catalans to win, with both teams scoring.
Benfica are on home soil, which will given them the edge, and they’ve netted in eight of their 10 Champions League games this season. They’ve now scored in 15 games in all competitions and will fancy their chances against a Barcelona team who haven’t been great defensively this season.
Barcelona may be terrifying in front of goal, scoring 71 in just 26 La Liga games and 27 in eight Champions League outings, but they’ve also allowed the opposition to score in six of those eight European games, and are averaging just shy of a goal conceded per game in the league.
They played four times on the road in the group stages and conceded in all, for a total of 10 goals. They’ve also seen the opposition score in all but three road games in La Liga, too. Back Benfica to find the back of the net but it probably won’t be enough for them to stop Barcelona winning the match.
Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen – Michael Olise and Florian Wirtz to both score or assist
Champions League match at Allianz Arena, Munich
TV: TNT Sports/discovery+, 8pm
This is a mouth-watering matchup with the two best teams in German football facing off. A lot of our eyes will be on Harry Kane, but there’s another former Premier League star who could be every bit as decisive, and that’s Michael Olise, who is having a stellar debut season in Germany. His season doesn’t match that of Florian Wirtz though, who is the best player in Bundesliga and arguably one of the best talents in the world now. Both men are likely to start for their respective teams and, given their quality in not only scoring goals but setting them up too, we’re backing both to either score or assist.
Olise comes into this game hot after scoring in back-to-back outings and the former Reading and Crystal Palace player has bagged 21 goal contributions for Bayern. In the league it’s a close split with eight goals and seven assists, but in Europe he’s been more deadly with five goals and an assist, as well as shooting on average 3.2 times per game.
Wirtz, much like Olise, has also scored rather than assisted in this competition, with six goals and an assist across Leverkusen’s eight games, whereas he’s scored nine goals and set up a further 12 in domestic league and cup.
These are two young players who have the world at their feet and are the leading hope for their clubs, so expect them to be key contributors on Wednesday, with both as likely to score a goal as set one up.
