The FA Cup 5th round rolls into Sunday with Newcastle hosting Brighton at 1:45pm at St. James’ Park and at 4:30pm Man United face Fulham at Old Trafford.
Paddy Power ambassador Joe Cole joined us during the week to discuss whether we’ll see any upsets in the cup. Three of Joe’s picks are covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, which means that if your man is substituted, the pick carries over to his replacement.

Newcastle v Brighton
FA Cup match at St James’ Park, Newcastle
TV: ITV1
Yeah, Brighton have been going well lately. Both of them are teams in and around the Premier League. Newcastle are in a situation where they’re going well in the Premier League and are vying for the Champions League positions; everyone’s jostling for them.
They’ve got the League Cup final on the horizon, which will take their mind onto Liverpool. The Reds were comfortable against Newcastle in the League midweek, well, reasonably comfortable for a tight scoring game.
Brighton, on the other hand, seem to have come out of that mini-slump, and Joao Pedro is back amongst it. Kaoru Mitoma has been superb the last few weeks.
But I’m going to go with a draw in this game. You can’t separate these two teams. I think it will go deeper into the tie. I can see a 2-2 Draw here, so there’ll be goals for sure.
I like Joao Pedro to score any time or assist for Brighton, and for Newcastle, I don’t think Eddie Howe will rest Alexander Isak, so I think he’s also a good one for a score or assist pick. He’s probably the most sought-after striker in world football at the moment. I think there’ll be many clubs sniffing around him when the transfer window opens.

Man United v Fulham
FA Cup match at Old Trafford, Manchester
TV: BBC One
I think Bruno Fernandes is a brilliant footballer. I really do. I don’t think he’s the perfect footballer; he’s not Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, or Kevin de Bruyne. He’s not one of those, but he’s a brilliant, brilliant footballer who’s been absolutely fantastic for Manchester United in what is arguably the most difficult period the club’s had in 40 years since the late eighties.
With his body of work at Manchester, he can more than hold his head up in pride at what he’s done at that football club, but I think he deserves to play in a better team.
Man United need to get back up there. They need to build a strong base around the club, and they might have to cash in on Fernandes, get rid of him, and bring in new players.
I’m going to go with Manchester United to win a tight game here. I can see it ending 2-1.
While Bruno Fernandez has been coming for a bit of stick this week, he’s a top player. Like I said, if he leaves Manchester United, he’ll be walking into another big club with open arms because he’s a very, very good top footballer. I see him among the goals.
