FA Cup Tips: Joe Cole’s 12/1 & 4/1 Bet Builders for Saturday’s action

Coley's up for the cup!

Following the packed midweek Premier League schedule, the FA Cup returns with the fifth round this weekend, and we’ve got two games covered for you on Saturday.

At lunchtime we have a tasty South London derby between Crystal Palace and Millwall for a rerun of their 2022 FA Cup meeting.

To accompany your dinner we have giant killers Plymouth looking to go one better than their win over Liverpool in the fourth round as they travel to Manchester City.

Paddy Power ambassador Joe Cole joined us during the week to discuss whether we’ll see any upsets in the cup.

1:45pm – Crystal Palace v Millwall

TV: BBC One

The Met Police will be really happy about the early kickoff in this South London derby. Even with an early kickoff time, the atmosphere will be electric. Selhurst Park has been a difficult place for teams to go this season.

I’ve been impressed with Oliver Glasner this season. He navigated Crystal Palace through that difficult spell, and now they’re in great form. I can only see Palace winning here. I like to steer clear of upsets at this stage of the competition, as the big boys will play their strongest sides as the chance of winning the whole thing grows.

I’ll back the hosts to win and keep a clean sheet, too.

Few strikers are in better form than Jean-Philippe Mateta, so I have to back him to score.

Adam Wharton is back in the squad and this game could be an opportunity for him. He likes to break into the box, so I will back him to score too.

Finally, without casting aspersions and for a bit of a long shot, I’ll back a Millwall player to get sent off. The game will be running away from them in the second half. By then, the fans will have had a few beers and will be demanding tackles.

5:45pm – Man City v Plymouth

TV: ITV4

I would love to say there could be an upset here, but unfortunately, I can’t see it. I spoke to a few Plymouth players this week and they are so excited. Their run is what the FA Cup is all about. Books will be written about their story this year. Their win over Liverpool and if they escape the drop will be monumental.

However, I think their cup run ends here. Man City look back on track after their win over a slightly rejuvenated Tottenham, and the FA Cup is their last realistic shot at silverware this season. So I can see them winning this comfortably and keeping a clean sheet, too.

This game is an opportunity for a player who needs a performance and needs a goal. For me, that’s Jack Grealish. He has featured in the FA Cup and is trying to return to that top level. He provided a lovely assist for Kevin De Bruyne in the previous round, so I’ll back him to score.
