Fantasy Premier League: Eyes on Villa, Bournemouth and Arsenal in gameweek 26

Nathon Woodhead rounds up last weekend's action and offers some key solutions for the unsure FPL gaffers out there.

The Premier League never sleeps and we’re gearing up for a quickfire deadline with this gameweek starting on Friday night and a fresh one coming during the week.

PP football tipster Nathon Woodhead returns with his advice on how to navigate Gameweek 26…

Move over Salah, there’s a new Egyptian king in town.

Gameweek 25 saw Omar Marmoush announce himself to the Premier League with a scintillating hattrick against Newcastle, helping City to a 4-0 win and providing 17 points to the 6% who own him.

Hold on a second, have we gone too quickly with the Marmoush love? Salah is still the king of FPL, as he was the only player to upstage Marmoush in GW25, offering a 20-point return putting him on 271 overall.

It’s no surprise the Liverpool star is owned by 71.9% of FPL players. Got to wonder what the 28.1% who don’t own him are thinking.

GW25 saw Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler top the round scoring with 21 points, demonstrating how effective the Assistant Manager chip can be when used correctly. The introduction of this chip could be the difference in winning your mini league.

Elsewhere in GW25, Arsenal kept their title dreams alive from the very unlikely hero Mikel Merino.

The Spanish midfielder came off the bench and was used as a makeshift forward, scoring two late goals and delivering a season-best return of 13 points.

It really does beg the question that with the striker crisis at Arsenal, could the £6m man owned by 0.4% be a fantastic differential? West Ham next for Arsenal who have scored 11 goals in their last two appearances against the Hammers.

Ahead of GW26, all eyes turn to the race for a top four finish.

At St James’ Park we have two of the top three strikers coming head-to-head. Chris Wood (163 total score) has provided attacking returns in seven of the last eight rounds, whereas Alexander Isak (154 total points) may have tailed off a little in recent weeks has provided attacking returns in nine of the last fifteen rounds.

Bournemouth could leapfrog Man City and bounce into fourth place with a little help from Liverpool, and both Aston Villa and Chelsea will be looking to their keep their hopes of a top four finish alive when they meeting at Villa Park.

Let’s look into the future and see what GW26 will bring.

Watkins to pile misery on Chelsea

Below-par Chelsea need to find inspiration from somewhere if they want to finish in a European place, and you’d think that could come from Cole Palmer. Yet one attacking return in his last four suggests Palmer is struggling.

Paddy Tip

Having provided attacking returns in his last two matches against Liverpool and Ipswich, we expect the Villa forward to make it three in three.

Clean sheet, to the Arsenal…

West Ham are in trouble, and facing an Arsenal side who scored five past them in November and six past them a year ago doesn’t help their cause at all. We don’t expect another mauling, but we do expect West Ham to offer very little in attack.

Paddy Tip

Clean sheet and bonus points for Arsenal defensive assets this week.

Kluivert back in business

After bagging 43 points across 21-23, Kluivert has only provided 7 points in the last two gameweeks, how dare he. We expect he will be back in the thick of it against Wolves this weekend.

Paddy Tip

Kluivert to offer an attacking return and bonus points against a spirited Wolves side who are fighting for their lives right now.
