Tuesday night sees the start of the new-fangled UEFA Champions League last 16 playoffs with Manchester City’s home clash with Real Madrid the pick of the action.
Neither side managed to secure a spot in the knockouts outright, so a double header in Manchester and Madrid will decide their fates, as they face off for the fourth successive season.
PP ambassador Joe Cole joined us ahead of the round to give us his thoughts on how this will go down.
He’s got two player picks in here, too, which is covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, meaning if a player is substituted, the pick carries over to his replacement. Let’s get his Man City v Real Madrid betting tips.

City’s FA Cup game at Leyton Orient was an incredible match. It delivered everything you want from the FA Cup, but Man City do look fragile.
They rested Erling Haaland at the weekend, and Phil Foden played the last 20 minutes or so, and that means they will have fresh legs going into this game.
The one stat that is jumping out to me going into this, is that Man City have not kept a clean sheet in their last five games, which is big for them.
However, you’ve got a defensive injury crisis for Real Madrid with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba joining that list of absentees. They drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid to keep top spot in La Liga on Saturday night.
I don’t know if that still holds the same weight as it did five years or so ago, so they are a little fragile as well, it’s fair to say both teams are not at their best right now.
At home, I do fancy Man City to win – although I don’t quite know why – but I do think both teams will score in this one.
I’m also going for Haaland to have 3+ shots, he’s averaging 4.49 shots per 90 minutes in the Champions League so far this season. I’m backing him to score as well as he’s got six goals in the competition too.
And I will also go for Foden to have 2+ shots, he looks to have his shooting boots back on.
I do think City can edge this, Real Madrid are not the team of last year and that’s important, they’re not quite at it.
