The Carabao Cup semi-finals wrap up Thursday night as Tottenham head up to face a rampant Liverpool side flying high in the Premier League and in Europe.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for some relief to Spurs’ patchy-at-best form as he aims for a first trophy as Spurs boss – something he’s said he always delivers in his second season…
But with Liverpool still on course for a possible quadruple this season former Anfield ace Joe Cole joined us to pour cold water on any hopes for the visitors at Anfield, despite their 1-0 lead from the first leg.

This game starts the busy period for Liverpool. This is where it begins to heat up. They have this semi-final, the FA Cup fourth round, and the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in seven days.
It doesn’t matter who you are or how long you’ve been at Liverpool; if you have three games in a week and one of them is the derby, that’s the most important game, even if this is a semi-final. So, I think he may tweak it and change it.
However, Liverpool are still the best team in the world at the moment, so they will still have enough quality to win this game.
For Tottenham, the key will be their defence. They have Micky van der Ven back, which should help stop them from conceding three or more, but it probably won’t be enough to keep a clean sheet.
I’ve backed both teams to score in nearly every Spurs game this season, and it has landed more often than not.
Dominic Solanke is a huge miss for them in attack, but it will be an opportunity for new arrival Mathys Tel to show why Bayern Munich value him so highly. Therefore, I’m backing both teams to score again.
The game’s main battle will be in the middle of the park, and a good bet is that any of the Spurs midfielders will get booked. Their discipline hasn’t been great recently, and I’m looking at Lucas Bergvall, an outstanding but very snappy midfielder.
He will get in Liverpool’s faces and go into the book.
Mohamed Salah is a nice price to score, perhaps because he might get rested, but I can see him playing this one. H
e is in the form of his career; if he starts, he scores.
