We’ve got an action-pack Monday night of football lined up for us. Chelsea face West Ham in the Premier League, while Middlesbrough entertains Sunderland in the Championship. Girona host Las Palmas in Spain, followed by Rio Ave taking on Porto in the Primeira Liga. First up though, we have Cagliari welcoming Lazio to the Unipol Domus.
Football tipster, Paddy Murphy, has dived into the stats and form for the best of the fixtures and has dug up five value picks for us.
With this being a five-fold Acca, too, Paddy’s footy acca betting offer kicks in, so we’ll get our stake back if just one leg lets us down.

Cagliari v Lazio – Both teams to score, yes
Serie A match at the Unipol Domus, Cagliari
TV: Onefootball, 7:45pm
Cagliari had begun their Serie A season quite well, but a rough few months saw them being dragged into the relegation zone. Of their four games since the turn of the year, though, the hosts have won two, drawn one, and lost one, so they’ve just made their way out of it. Luckily for them, at the time of writing, there are only five points between them in 17th and Genoa in 12th.
Lazio have won two, drawn one, and lost two over their last five fixtures, and on their recent Italian excursions, they have won three and lost two, scoring seven and conceding six.
The hosts have scored eight over their last five at home in the league, so it would be no surprise should they score here, particularly as Lazio hasn’t been keeping too many clean sheets of late.
Chelsea v West Ham – Cole Palmer to have 1+ shots on target from outside the box
Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, London
TV: Sky Sports Main Event/Premier League, 8pm
Cole Palmer hasn’t quite been getting the headlines that he did last season. Maybe that has to do with how good Liverpool have been, how bad Manchester City has been, how yo-yo Man United has been, or how moany Arsenal have been. Either way, the former City player has scored 14 and assisted six in the Premier League.
He’s been averaging just shy of four shots per game in the league this term, about half of which have been on target. West Ham will have little option other than to part the bus on occasion here, and Chelsea will go through periods of taking shots from outside the box.
Palmer is Chelsea’s freekick maestro, too, so the odds on this landing look pretty decent; thank you very much, Paddy.
Middlesbrough v Sunderland – Middlesbrough, Over 0.5 first half goals
Championship match at the Riverside Stadium
TV: Sky Sports Football, 8pm
Middlesbrough’s form has taken a dive of late, they’ve now won just one of their last five fixtures in all competitions, drawing one and losing three in the others. On home soil, things are far better. They’re unbeaten over their last six in the league at the Riverside, scoring 10 goals while conceding four, keeping three clean sheets.
Sunderland have lost just one of their last 10 in the Championship and on their recent jaunts have won two, drawn two, and lost one, scoring six and conceding five.
One stat that leaped off the page at us was that the hosts have scored eight first-half goals over those six aforementioned home league games and we’re getting some very decent odds for them to get an early goal here.
Girona v Las Palmas – Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals
La Liga match at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi, Girona
TV: Premier Sports
Things are looking pretty bad for Girona. They’ve now won just two of their last 10 fixtures across all competitions, while in La Liga, they’ve won two and lost three over their last five. On home soil, they’ve won three and lost two, so they’ll want to lean into that here.
Las Palmas have won one, drawn one, and lost three over their last five fixtures. Over their last five in La Liga, they’ve won one, drawn two, and lost two, while on their away league trips have won two, drawn one, and lost two.
You’d have to look towards goals here. The hosts have scored 12 over their last five at home in La Liga, as well as seven over their last five. For Las Palmas, they’ve bagged four over their last five and six over their last five on the road, so we’re likely to see both teams scoring and at least a third goal too.
Rio Ave v Porto – Both teams to score, yes
Primeira Liga match at Estádio do Rio Ave Futebol Clube, Vila do Conde
TV: TrillerTV, 8:45pm
Currently six points behind Sporting at the top of the Primeira Liga, Porto really could do with a win here.
Martin Anselmi’s side has now won just one of their last six in all competitions, while in the league, they have won two, drawn one, and lost one. On their away league trips, they’ve won just one, drawn one, and lost three.
Rio Ave have won three, drawn one, and lost one over their last five, while on home soil in the league has won two, drawn two, and lost one, scoring nine and conceding 10.
Porto have scored nine over their last five in the league and six over their last five on the road. The market fancies Porto to bag the three points but their form suggests otherwise, both teams getting at least a goal each has far better value.
