Ryan Gravenberch to be fouled 1 or more times

TV: TNT Sports

Jonathan David to score

When looking at goal scorers in this game there’s plenty in the Liverpool lineup who are worth considering, with Mohamed Salah in incredible form and the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo both putting up good numbers this campaign. However, at far larger odds you can get Lille’s Jonathan David, who offers a compelling argument.

The Canadian is having a great Champions League goalscoring campaign, with four to his name. He’s established himself as one of the Europe’s most exciting strikers outside of the giant clubs and with 11 goals in Ligue 1 and offers a threat against a Liverpool team who haven’t been quite as solid defensively lately.

Curtis Jones to have 1 or more shots on target

He isn’t an ever-present in Arne Slot’s team but Curtis Jones is expected to start on Tuesday against Lille, with the team needed just a single point across their final two Champions League games to lock up a spot in the next round. Liverpool’s main attacking threats come from their talented mix of forwards but Jones has been impressive when it comes to getting into dangerous positions.

He’s bagged three goals this season but has been averaging one shot on target per 90 minutes played. That’s only marginally lower than Gakpo’s 1.08. This is a player who is underrated and under-priced when it comes to his ability to get shots on target. We’re adding that to our Bet Builder to boost the price.

Ayyoub Bouaddi to commit 2 or more fouls

Lille’s 17-year old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is set to start in this matchup with Ethan Mbappe and Nabil Bentaleb unavailable and Angel Gomes seemingly out of favour. The youngster will be paired in the heart of Lille’s midfield with 34-year old Benjamin Andre and will be tasked with doing his running.

In order to nullify Liverpool it’s essential that Bouaddi and Andre stop them from dictating play, so expect the young Frenchman to get amongst Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. He’s averaged 1.37 fouls per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 with that rate increase to 2.3 in his five Champions League appearances. Given the quality in Liverpool’s team and the importance of shutting down their skill players, we can expect Bouaddi to commit at least two fouls at Anfield.

Ismaily to commit 1 or more fouls

Despite not being a regular earlier in the season it’s expected that Ismaily will get a start thanks to continuing injuries in the Lille defence. The Brazilian spent the bulk of his career at Shakhtar Donetsk before spending the last two seasons as a start for Lille. He’s historically been a better defender than attacker and will be tasked with stopping Salah, as well as any attacking runs from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Domestically he’s averaged 1.42 fouls committed per 90 minutes played this season but that’s increased to two per 90 minutes in the Champions League. Given that he’s going to be matched up against Salah, arguably the best player In the world on the current form, we should expect the 35-year old to bring him down illegally at least once.

Ryan Gravenberch to be fouled 1 or more times

The Dutchman has been one of Liverpool’s best performers this year and alongside Mac Allister, they are key to getting the ball up the field for the Reds. Gravenberch is key to the midfield, playing short passes, but also dribbling into advanced positions.

It’s no surprised that Gravenberch has been Liverpool’s most fouled player in the Premier League this season, with 31 fouls won, six higher than Mohamed Salah, who you might ordinarily to have that title. With Gravenberch getting fouled 1.52 per 90 minutes played domestically, we’ll take him to be fouled here against a dynamic, hardworking Lille team.
