The Gunners will be looking to rebound from a disappointing 2-0 defeat in Tuesday’s first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle. United will be buoyant after a deserved 2-2 draw away at Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

Arsenal to win
Manchester United are a difficult team to predict at present.
Ruben Amorim’s side recorded impressive results at Liverpool and Manchester City before and after Christmas, producing impressive performances in both games.
However, they came into the Liverpool game after three straight league defeats and four consecutive defeats in all competitions, including comprehensive defeats against Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Wolves.
That would suggest that United are currently better suited to playing against higher-level teams under Amorim’s system. But they struggled against Arsenal at the beginning of December, going down to a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates in a game largely dominated by the hosts.
United have struggled badly against Arsenal recently, losing four games on the spin against the Gunners in a run stretching back over two years.
United also failed to build on the momentum of the City performance. In their very next outing, they lost to a North London team in a domestic cup game, going down to a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham after their win at City.
Seeing their momentum somewhat checked at the Emirates on Sunday wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
Over 6.5 Arsenal corners
At this stage, Arsenal’s reliance on corners and set pieces is becoming a bit of a meme.
Mikel Arteta’s side have scored a whopping nine goals from corners in the league this season, the most of any team in the division. They scored both of their goals from corner kicks when United travelled to the Emirates a month ago and won a whopping 13 corners in that game as they bombarded the United goal with crosses.
Amorim hinted that Arsenal played for corners during the last meeting between the two sides, noting that Arsenal’s wingers seemed happy to take the corner when the ball was out wide.
Considering how well it worked last time, there is no reason to think they will not employ a similar tactic against United on Sunday.
Manchester United goalkeeper to make 4+ saves
Andre Onana was not overly busy during United’s trip to Anfield on Sunday. However, he still made a few crucial interventions throughout the game, particularly in a rip-roaring second half.
Onana made four stops during that trip to Anfield, while United have faced at least four shots on target in each of their last five games in all competitions.
During their last visit to the Emirates, they faced six shots on target, and Onana again made four saves.
Arsenal lead the league in terms of shots in target per home game this season, averaging 6.8 efforts on goal per game at the Emirates.
Onana could easily be forced into another four saves on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes to have 1+ shots on target
Bruno Fernandes was back to his best during the 2-2 against Liverpool last week, producing a virtuoso performance to help secure a point at the league leaders.
Fernandes is by far the most shot-happy player in the United squad, averaging 2.8 shots per game in the league, which is by far the most of any United player.
Fernandes attempted two shots during last week’s draw, stinging the palms of Alisson with a late drive that the Brazilian ‘keeper could only spill for a corner.
If United are to get anything out of Sunday’s trip to the Emirates, they will need Fernandes at his best, and the Portuguese midfielder is good value to find the target at least once.
Manchester United to commit 11+ fouls
Arsenal are remarkably one of the least-fouled teams in the Premier League, drawing an average of fewer than fouls per game this season.
On the other hand, United average well over 11 fouls per game and rank mid-table in terms of average fouls committed.
They are by no means a dirty team, but they boast the fourth-worst disciplinary record in the league. In their three away trips to Arsenal, Liverpool, and City, they committed an average of 12 fouls per game.
Amorim’s side will likely have to do a fair amount of defending on Sunday and, by extension, will likely commit a fair amount of fouls.
