Sunday night and all eyes lead to Rome for what should be a fascinating Rome derby in the Serie A.
The hosts have endured some tough spells this season, but the reinstatement of Claudio Ranieri has seen an upturn in fortunes for the hosts. Lazio is just six points behind the top two going into the weekend.
Football tipster Paddy Murphy has dived into the stats to find five value picks for his Bet Builder, so let’s get his Roma v Lazio betting tips.

Over 0.5 1st half goals
These Rome derbies can be incredibly tense affairs. The city becomes obsessed with this game. There’s really nothing like it for fans of the Premier League to compare it to. Rome has a slightly larger population than Birmingham, so imagine if Birmingham only had two football teams and there were five different talk radio stations dedicated to news about them.
This is all to say that the pressure is massive on both teams. And we don’t always see a ton of goals when Roma are the hosts, more on that below, but all five of those recent meetings have seen a first-half goal. Add to this the fact that four of their last five respective home/away Serie A games have also seen at least one first-half goal, and we should see one here too.
Both teams to score, yes
Despite the fact that only five of the last 10 meetings with Roma as the hosts have seen both teams scoring, we reckon it’s going to land here. The reason being is that both sides are scoring and conceding plenty of late.
The Romans have scored 10 and conceded six over their last five Serie A games and 12 and six over their last home league games. For Lazio, they’ve bagged five and conceded 11 over their last five, and 10 and five over their last five on the road.
With those records, it’s hard not to see both conceding and scoring.
Artem Dovbyk to have 1+ shots on target
Former Girona striker Artem Dovbyk hasn’t exactly brought the same form that saw him win La Liga’s Golden Boot in the 2023/24 season. So far, over his 16 Serie A games, he’s scored five, bagging a couple each in the Coppa Italia and the Europa League as well, so while not exactly the same kind of form, it’s still decent enough for a first season at a new club.
The Ukranian forward has been averaging 2.1 shots per league game, and with the returning Claudio Ranieri putting Paul Dybala behind Dovbyk in a supporting role, their link-up play has been developing quite nicely, so, he should get at least one on target here.
Over 6.5 cards
Over the last five derbies with Roma as host, we’ve seen 9, 5, 7, 4, and 7 cards given out. And, as pointed out above, this is a highly-pressurised affair, and tempers can, indeed, do flair.
Indeed, there’s more pressure than usual this season, as Roma are a full six positions behind Lazio in the table at the time of writing so they’re going to have to step up and go for it. The midfield battle will be both fascinating and fiery and we can see the referee having a busy night.
Rome to win
The hosts have only lost two of their last 10 meetings as hosts in all competitions, and while most neutrals might be tempted to go with Lazio here, we simply cannot based on those results.
Indeed, we’re going to back the hosts because of their superior goal-scoring record. They’ve scored 10 over their last five and 12 over their last five at home. Compare that with five for Lazio and five over their last four on their travels, and we reckon the hosts should edge it.
