Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

As the 2024/25 Premier League season rounds the bend and embarks on the long journey to the finish line, Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is showing trademark stamina as he continues to gaze into his crystal ball every single week.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and tested which way the footballing winds are blowing to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 12.30pm: Spurs v Newcastle

TV: TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate

Newcastle are flying. They could have, and should have, beaten Manchester United by many more than the 2-0 final score. Tottenham used to be good at home but they’re all over the place and I fancy Newcastle to win which will just put more pressure on Ange Postecoglou. Newcastle’s three in midfield are so good and they’re a very, very difficult team to beat now. Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle.

Saturday 3pm: Aston Villa v Leicester

Leicester are still second bottom and concede loads of goals, 42 already, which is the joint-worst record in the division. This should be easy work for Aston Villa. Aston Villa 2-0 Leicester.

Saturday 3pm: Bournemouth v Everton

Everton had been getting some decent results but they lost last time to Nottingham Forest. This feels like a score draw to me. Every time Everton lose Sean Dyche tightens them up even more! Bournemouth 1-1 Everton.

Saturday 3pm: Crystal Palace v Chelsea

I thought Chelsea would fall off and I had Ipswich to beat them last time out so I think this little dip has been coming for a while. Crystal Palace are just on a little uptick and they won last time and I do fancy them to get something out of this at Selhurst Park. This is a testing time for Enzo Maresca and things unravel quickly at Chelsea if you’re not careful. Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea.

Saturday 3pm: Man City v West Ham

Jarrod Bowen being out is a big blow for West Ham, especially added to Michail Antoino’s accident. West Ham have been improving and they’re above Manchester United now but City, on home turf, should have too much. Manchester City 3-0 West Ham.

Saturday 3pm: Southampton v Brentford

Brentford haven’t won for a while but I’m going to tip them to get back on track here. They were lethal at home and now that’s gone so maybe the 2025 Brentford will be really good on the road. Southampton 1-2 Brentford.

Saturday 5.30pm: Brighton v Arsenal

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Brighton, like Brentford, haven’t won for ages and they seem to draw every match. They’re due one and Bukayo Saka being out is an absolutely massive blow for Arsenal going forward. I’m not convinced Arsenal have the depth to hang on in this title race. Brighton 2-1 Arsenal.

Sunday 2pm: Fulham v Ipswich

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Fulham haven’t won loads of late but the main thing is they’ve been unbeaten. They’ve had some tough fixtures and if you can’t win don’t lose – they’ve only lost four times this season which is impressive. This is a game that’s ripe for them to take the three points, though, as much as I like Ipswich. Fulham 2-1 Ipswich.

2-1 Correct Score

Sunday 4.30pm: Liverpool v Man Utd

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Liverpool are rightly big favourites and Manchester United are just all over the place. What’s left to say about them? I think back to when they were struggling last year and they went to Anfield and got a 0-0. They’re even worse at the moment so I fancy Liverpool to win it, it just might be a bit of a grind rather than a rout. Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United.

2-0 Correct Score

Monday 8pm: Wolves v Nott’m Forest

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Wolves are staging a bit of a recovery under the new guy Vitor Pereira and I just fancy them to win here. Nottingham Forest have been fab, really, really good, but all good things must come to an end. Wolves 2-1 Nottingham Forest.

2-1 Correct Score
