Football Accumulator Tips: Our 20/1 shot for Saturday’s 3pm Premier League kick offs

Our tipster Andrew Beasley casts his beady eye over the 3pm Prem action.

Happy New Year! What has the Premier League got in store for us in 2025? Liverpool as champions and Manchester United relegated, anyone? Both scenarios will probably move a step closer at Anfield on Sunday.

But before we get to that, five matches are kicking off at 3pm on Saturday. Here’s a selection for each, which you can combine into an accumulator—eyes down, Andrew Beasley is looking for the first-weekend winner of the new year.

Premier League Acca tips

Aston Villa v Leicester – Both teams to score, yes
Bournemouth v Everton – Bournemouth to win
Crystal Palace v Chelsea – Chelsea to win
Man City v West Ham – Erling Haaland to score
Southampton v Brentford – Brentford to win

Aston Villa v Leicester – Both teams to score, yes

We start with a Midlands match-up between Aston Villa and Leicester. The honeymoon is over for the Foxes’ new boss, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has seen his side lose their last four matches.

The aggregate score line of 1-12 from those games will have Villa anticipating a comfortable home win, even though Leicester won this fixture 4-2 the last time it was held. But while it will likely end in three points for Unai Emery’s men, the visitors should get on the score sheet.

Leicester have only failed to score in two of their nine away games, while Villa have just two clean sheets at home. The odds for both teams to score are better than for a home win, so take the ‘yes’ in the former market.

Bournemouth v Everton – Bournemouth to win

Bournemouth host Everton in the reverse of one of the most remarkable matches of this season or any other. In case you’ve forgotten, the Toffees were leading 2-0 in the 87th minute at Goodison Park in August, only for the Cherries to roar back with three goals to win.

As Everton have failed to win any of their seven Premier League visits to Bournemouth and have failed to score a division-high 10 times this season, this should be a far more routine match for Andoni Iraola’s men.

Bournemouth have four wins from five games against the bottom five this season. They should add another to their tally with a victory here.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea – Chelsea to win

Chelsea are heading to Crystal Palace after their worst slump of the season. A disappointing 0-0 draw at Everton was followed by defeats to Fulham and Ipswich. Enzo Maresca has consistently insisted the Blues are not in the title race, and boy, have they proved it in the last two weeks.

They should be able to turn their form around on Saturday afternoon. Selhurst Park has been a happy hunting ground for Chelsea, with the Blues having won on their last six visits.

Crystal Palace’s ground hasn’t been much of a fortress this season. The Eagles only have two home wins in 2024/25, none of which came against a team starting the weekend in the top half of the table. Back Chelsea to win this one.

Man City v West Ham – Erling Haaland to score

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City welcome West Ham. The defending champions have won just one of their previous five home games in all competitions, a remarkable state of affairs.

While the Hammers won 2-0 at Newcastle, it is their only victory on the road against a side currently in the top 12. If that doesn’t offer City enough of a morale boost, they should remember that the visitors are one of Erling Haaland’s favourite opponents.

With seven goals against West Ham, Wolves (eight) are the only English team against whom the Norwegian has been more deadly. Haaland is the pick here to score any time.

Southampton v Brentford – Brentford to win

Southampton have the poorest home record in the 2024/25 Premier League, and Brentford have the second-worst on the road. The only way this game could be lower quality is if Southampton were playing themselves.

However, the Bees’ away form is hampered by the difficulty of their schedule. They have only travelled to one of the bottom six sides. They returned from Everton with a point despite losing Christian Norgaard to a first-half red card. When facing the strugglers with 11 men,, they’ve won every time.

While Thomas Frank’s squad is riddled with injuries, the quality of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa should give them the edge here. As other mid-table sides have won at Southampton, Brentford will, too.
