The final round of 2024 Premier League games take place in the next few days and Peter Crouch is ready to ring in the New Year with his thoughts on West Ham v Liverpool.
It’s been a season of change an turmoil at the London stadium so far as the Hammers transition from David Moyes’ Euro glory days to Julen Lopetegui’s new regime with some very bumpy results, while Liverpool have suffered no such turbulence in the move from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot.
And remember, Paddy Power’s Super Sub means your bet rolls on even if your player selection gets taken off early…

West Ham have managed to get some results in recent weeks, but it’s not been good there this season and I don’t think the fans are happy with what’s gone on.
They’ve got decent draws against Brighton and Bournemouth, which counts for something given the seasons those sides are having.
They beat Wolves in that Monday night game too which was a big three points after losing to Leicester, and they’ve won against Southampton this week.
So, they have steadied the ship a little bit but they still have a long way to go.
The London Stadium is not Upton Park in terms of the atmosphere for visiting teams, but the mood should at least improve with the team getting some results now. Considering the start they’ve had, getting in to the top half of the table is the best they can hope for, where ambitions would’ve been higher in the summer with the new manager, Julen Lopetegui. coming in.
It’s become a season for survival and consolidation when it was supposed to be top-half and better football.
They’re facing Liverpool on Sunday and the season so far couldn’t really have gone any better for them with their new boss. It’s absolutely outrageous how good they’ve been and how Arne Slot has slipped right in there.
Even Man City might look at their results now and wonder at how Liverpool have seamlessly replaced Jurgen Klopp – maybe managers can go on too long sometimes.
It’s his attention to detail that’s struck me – he’s looking for negatives and where they can improve even when all I see is amazing football and great goals.
And that’s a good thing because he’s trying to set a high standard. The football’s amazing, but they have conceded some sloppy goals too, as he said in after the Spurs game.
Liverpool to win
But they’re full of confidence now which really helps with the games coming so fast over Christmas.
I have to see them winning again and it shouldn’t be too tough. I’d expect West Ham to score as well but Liverpool win, and a 3-1 final score wouldn’t surprise me.
Mo Salah to score
There’s no sign of him slowing down, is there? Liverpool are getting goals from all across the team at the moment, but you have to look at the front players for a Bet Builder and Mo Salah is the clearest option.
Alexis Mac Allister to have 1+ shots on target
you could pick one of Liverpool’s other forwards for a shot on target, but, at the odds, the Argentine looks good value to me as he has had a few goals and efforts on target in recent games.
Jarrod Bowen to have 2+ shots
He’s the main threat, I love him as a player and he’s playing well, so he should get a few shots off at least, even if he doesn’t score.
Tomas Soucek to commit 1+ fouls
The big West Ham midfielder is always likely to make a foul and with Liverpool likely to be on top here this looks a good bet.
