Mark Lawrenson's Premier League betting predictions

The 2024/25 Premier League season is hurtling towards its halfway point, and Paddy’s pal Mark Lawrenson is steadfastly gazing into his crystal ball every single match day.

The Soccer Soothsayer has read the signs and crunched the numbers to produce his Premier League predictions over the coming days. Let’s see what the future holds…

Saturday 3pm: Arsenal v Everton

Arsenal really should have won at Fulham, it was a strange performance. Fulham did well to stop them but I just didn’t see much urgency. They don’t have much down their left-hand side, everything came down the right and Fulham just doubled up. I suspect they’ll win this game, through. Arsenal 2-0 Everton.

Saturday 3pm: Liverpool v Fulham

Liverpool playing at 3pm! I’ve repeatedly spoken about how much I like Fulham, they’ve just got good players and a good manger. Liverpool are cruising through every game they play at the moment and you feel they’ll win this one way or another. Liverpool 2-1 Fulham.

Saturday 3pm: Newcastle v Leicester

This could be one of the most important games of Eddie Howe’s time at Newcastle. If they get turned over the crowd could well turn on him a little bit. Leicester have had a bit of a bounce but I’ll back the Toon Army. If they can stop Jamie Vardy I’m not sure what else Leicester have really. Newcastle 2-0 Leicester.

Saturday 3pm: Wolves v Ipswich

I’m not sure this is actually the last-chance saloon for Gary O’Neil because those in charge at Wolves understand what they’ve done to him by selling all their best players. What did they think was going to happen? They were a little unlucky again against West Ham with the referees on Monday night. I’ll stick with Wolves. Wolves 3-2 Ipswich.

Saturday 5.30pm: Nott’m Forest v Aston Villa

I’ll go for an away win, I think Villa will pick up now. Nottingham Forest have done great, they’ve surprised everyone, but Villa might have just turned a corner with their recent displays. Nottingham Forest 0-2 Aston Villa.

Sunday 2pm: Brighton v Crystal Palace

I’m not sure what it’s all about, when I payed I don’t think the M23 even existed! It’s all about the rivalry between Alan Mullery and Terry Venables, isn’t it? There was plenty of history there but Brighton are a good team now and with home advantage they’ll win. Brighton 2-1 Crystal Palace.

7/1
2-1 Correct Score

Sunday 4.30pm: Man City v Man Utd

I’m going to go for Manchester City to win. I know they lost again against Juventus on Wednesday but they made lots of opportunities and Kevin De Bruyne looked sharp. Manchester United are still trying to work out what they’re doing, Ruben Amorim has no idea what his best team is. Manchester City 3-1 Manchester United.

9/1
3-1 Correct Score

Sunday 7pm: Chelsea v Brentford

It’s not far to go but Brentford do not travel well. Chelsea look good at the moment but it feels like as soon as we all jump on the bandwagon and start thinking they’ve got a chance of doing something they slip up and drop points so it could be a mad, high-scoring draw. Chelsea 2-2 Brentford.

12/1
2-2 Correct Score

Sunday 7pm: Southampton v Spurs

Spurs will win this comfortably. Southampton can’t score, they can’t win, they’re struggling. The thing with Tottenham is that they have really, really good spells in games – regardless of their other faults – and they score goals. We could spend all day talking about Tottenham but this might be a straightforward one. Southampton 0-3 Tottenham.

14/1
0-3 Correct Score

Monday 8pm: Bournemouth v West Ham

I’m going to go for a tight away win. Julen Lopetegui could have lost his job on Tuesday morning, if he goes and wins this then it’s ancient history. The Michail Antonio issue fired them up last Monday and that could be the spark for them to push on. Bournemouth 1-2 West Ham.

13/1
1-2 Correct Score
