Rangers v Tottenham Tips: Our 12/1 Europa League Bet Builder on Thursday

Sam Farley is predicting a tricky return to Glasgow for Big Ange.

The Europa League rolls back into town on Thursday night as Ange Postecoglou heads back to Glasgow with Tottenham taking on Rangers.

Big Ange is under pressure south of the border, after some poor recent results, and the former Celtic boss is sure to get a spicy reception at Ibrox.

Our tipster Sam Farley has put together a tidy Bet Builder for this one – so let’s check out his Rangers v Tottenham betting tips.

Rangers v Tottenham Betting Tips

Both teams to score: Yes
Vaclav Cerny to score or assist
Archie Gray to commit 1 or more fouls
Nicolas Raskin to be shown a card
Dejan Kulusevski to be fouled 1 or more times

WHEN: Thursday, 12th of December, 8pm
WHERE: Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow
TV: TNT Sports 1

Both teams to score: Yes

Rangers and Spurs come into this game performing below expectations in the league. The hosts are currently behind Aberdeen domestically, coming third in a two-horse race. Spurs are in meltdown with Postecoglou under mounting strain, with fans unhappy about the team’s defensive weaknesses, and Ange’s reluctance to deviate from his attacking principles.

On paper Spurs have by far the best team, but there’s likely to be a slight reshuffle in attack, to rest players and then defensively a hunt to find somebody fit to play centrally alongside Radu Dragusin with injuries racking up. That weak defensive line-up should allow Rangers to score, as they’ve scored 12 in five Europa League games anyway. Spurs average two goals a game in Europe, over that in the Premier League, and still have the talent to score at least one, if not more.

Yes Both Teams To Score

Vaclav Cerny to score or assist

When it comes to picking the Rangers player most likely to be involved with contributing a goal, you can’t look any further Vaclav Cerny. The 27-year old has been a bright spot for the club since arriving this summer. Offering a goal threat from the right flank and creating opportunities for others.

Across the Europa League and Premiership, he’s played 18 times for Rangers. In that time, he’s racked up nine goals and three assists. He’s not afraid to take shots, averaging 3.4 shots per game in the Europa League. Spurs will need to be very wary of the Czech attacker.

Vaclav Cerny To Score Or Assist

Archie Gray to commit 1 or more fouls

With Spurs looking to find a partner for Dragusin, it seems Archie Gray might be used at centre back. The 18-year old hasn’t become a key part of the team yet, but his versatility is admired by Postecoglou, who has already deployed him in every position across the defence.

He’s still growing as a footballer, and has just one game under his belt at centre back for Spurs, so he might struggle in the cauldron of Ibrox. The intimidating atmosphere, the importance of the game for manager, and the difficulty of being played out of position, could add up to him committing a foul. He’s committed two fouls in eight Premier League appearances, but seven came from the bench, and on a foul per minute basis he commits 1.27 fouls per 90 minutes.

Archie Gray Player To Commit 1 Or More Fouls

Nicolas Raskin to be shown a card

When picking out a card bet, there’s only one place you can land, and that’s on Nicolas Raskin. The young Belgian sits in the heart of the Rangers midfield and helps screen the back four. That’s going to put him in direct competition with some of Spurs’ best and most difficult to tackle players, such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Domestically, the 23-year old has already picked up five yellow cards in 12 games. Add to that another yellow he’s picked up in Europe, and you can see he’s a combative player. He’s not adapted well to either competition, in the Premiership he’s gives up 1.57 fouls per 90 minutes, but that increases to 4.19 in Europe, where he’s committed 14 fouls in three starts and two sub appearances.

17/10
Nicolas Raskin Shown a Card

Dejan Kulusevski to be fouled 1 or more times

With Maddison at short odds we’re looking elsewhere for a player to get fouled and Kulusevski seems like the best choice. The Swede has performed well since the last international break and is one of Spurs’ most direct attacking players.

Crucially he’s been getting fouled at a rate of 1.5 times per 90 minutes in the Premier League. With the threat he possesses, he’s highly likely to be fouled at least once by Rangers, as they look to get something from this game.

1/4
Dejan Kulusevski Player To Be Fouled 1 Or More Times

Rangers v Tottenham Bet Builder Tips:

Nicolas Raskin to be shown a card
