December is here, and nothing says Christmas season like a festive fouls accumulator! No more cursing player substitutions that cost you bets, as Paddy Power now offers their Super Sub guarantee for players to commit 2 or 3 fouls.
This means that even if one of our selections gets whipped off during the game, our bet is still live, with the player subbed on taking their place!
With that in mind, football tipster Oli Nixon is back with four foul picks from two of Sunday’s 2pm Premier League kick-offs, which can be combined into a tasty multi-match bet builder.

2pm – Ipswich v Bournemouth
Lewis Cook to commit 2+ fouls
Lewis Cook has committed the 4th most fouls of any Premier League player this season, with a total of 27 at an average of 2.26 per 90 minutes.
The central midfielder loves a battle and can regularly stick a clumsy, late foot in or cynically hauling down his opponent. He’s consistently done so across his career, as his all-time average of 1.2 fouls per game in his 10 years in the game emphasises.
Cook will oppose Omari Giraud-Hutchinson, the tricky attacking midfielder who has been fouled 1.45 times per 90 minutes this season. He’ll also be involved in a fiery contest with Sam Morsy, who likes a foul of his own but has also drawn 1.29 times per 90 minutes.
There are high foul-drawing players all over Ipswich’s midfield, and with Cook’s record, he looks like a shoo-in for two or more.
Adam Smith to commit 2+ fouls
Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith has been uncharacteristically quiet regarding fouls this season, averaging just 0.52 per 90 minutes. He’s yet to commit two fouls this season. However, this pick is all about his match-up down Ipswich’s left-hand side…
Jack Clarke was fouled 3.5 times per game in the Championship last season and has carried that reputation into the Premier League, drawing 2.48 fouls per 90.
He’s a master of buying fouls from opposition fullbacks, and these tactics have seen right-sided Premier League defenders getting suckered into plenty of fouls throughout the season. At 33 years old, Smith will struggle to get near him.
2pm – Leicester v Brighton
Yasin Ayari to commit 2+ fouls
Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari has had to wait to break into the Brighton line-up, and his tally of six fouls last weekend against Southampton demonstrates that he may have some built-up frustration from his time on the sidelines.
Across his previous six starts, he’s committed at least one foul in every game and racked up 12 infringements. His season average is 1.89 per 90, so he’s another easy pick for two fouls. He’s also likely to be subbed as he’s only played 90 minutes three times all season, so he is a great candidate for the Super Sub offer.
He’ll be up against Facundo Buonanotte, who has drawn 1.83 fouls per 90 this season.
The Argentine has grown into his role with The Foxes, and with more creative freedom under Ruud van Nistelrooy, we could see that average increase. If he doesn’t draw fouls from Ayari, a midfield battle with Wilfried Ndidi certainly should do.
Georginio Rutter to commit 2+ fouls
Brighton’s record signing Georginio Rutter has impressed Seagulls fans with his all-action displays. Despite playing an advanced role, the Frenchman has committed 2.34 fouls per 90 this season, committing two or more in six of his ten Premier League appearances.
He’s committed at least one foul in every away league start and is another likely candidate for the Super Sub offer, only completing 90 minutes once all season.
Rutter’s opposition will be the right-hand side combination of James Justin and Kasey McAteer. That duo have combined for 3.19 fouls draw per 90 this season, and there’s also every chance that McAteer gets subbed and Jordan Ayew is introduced, who has been fouled 3.09 times per 90.
