Friday night sees a crunch promotion clash in the Championship between Burnley and Middlesbrough at Turf Moor.
Burnley currently sit second in the league after four straight wins and five clean sheets, while Middlesbrough are undergoing a resurgence in fifth place, knowing a win would take them three points off Friday’s hosts.
It should be an intriguing game. The Clarets have the best defence in the league, conceding just six goals, while Middlesbrough have the most potent attack, scoring 32 goals.
Matthew O’Regan is here to preview the game with a bet builder. Let’s get his Burnley v Middlesbrough betting tips.

Emmanuel Latte Lath to have 1+ shots on target
Emmanuel Latte Lath is Middlesbrough’s main man. The Ivorian enjoyed a stellar debut campaign, scoring 16 goals in just 23 starts and has continued that form into this season, scoring seven goals in 12 starts.
The 25-year-old averages 3.59 shots and 1.31 on target per 90 – similar figures to last season. He has also hit ten shots on target over his last 283 minutes of football. If Boro are to get a result against a Burnley side that is unbeaten at Turf Moor, Latte Lath will have to be on form.
Lucas Pires to commit 2+ fouls
Signed in the summer from Brazilian side Santos, Lucas Pires has become a mainstay in the Burnley side, starting 14 of Burnley’s 18 games. The Brazilian has looked bright going forward, but this is also a major reason the Clarets conceded the fewest goals in the league.
The 23-year-old is averaging 1.43 fouls per 90 minutes. While he failed to make a foul in his last start against Coventry, he made three against Bristol City, two against Swansea, and three against West Brom in his last three games.
His direct opponent will be the livewire, Ben Doak. The on-loan Liverpool star has shone in his short spell at Boro. He has registered five assists and a goal in just 11 starts. The 19-year-old’s dazzling footwork has caught the eye, as he has won an average of 1.55 fouls per 90 minutes and at least two in two of the last three.
Hayden Hackney to commit 2+ fouls
Hayden Hackney has started 15 games for Middlesbrough this season and is integral to Michael Carrick’s style of play. The England u21 international is a tenacious tackler who demonstrates fine technical ability.
While he only averages 1.20 fouls per 90, he made three in the last outing. Burnley will likely set up with Josh Cullen and Hannibal Mejbri in midfield, who draw 2.53 and 1.50 fouls per 90.
Over 5.5 Burnley corners
Burnley play with the exciting Luca Koleosho and Jaidon Anthony out wide, while Jeremey Sarmiento tends to drift wide. They also get width from marauding wing-back Connor Roberts and Lucas Pires. With bustling target man Jay Rodriguez expected to start again after his goal last weekend, expect plenty of crosses from Parker’s side.
At home, Burnley average 6.58 corners, while Middlesbrough concede an average of 4.88 away from home.
