Raul Jimenez to have 2+ shots on target
Raul Jimenez has endured a relatively long goal drought after a hugely encouraging start to the Premier League season. The Mexican striker scored four goals in Fulham’s opening eight league games but has now failed to score since mid-October, a run of five games without a goal.
It is not for lack of trying, however. Jimenez has averaged by far the most shots per game of any Fulham player this season, averaging 2.5 efforts per game in the league.
He is likely to at least match that average against a Brighton side that has been leaking shots in recent weeks. Brighton have faced 95 shots in their last six league outings, an average of more than 15 per game, and have managed just one clean sheet in that six-game run.
Fulham – and Jimenez – will get chances on Thursday night and it would be no great surprise if he found the target at least twice.
Fulham to commit 13+ fouls
Fulham’s average of 11.8 fouls per game is by no means the highest in the Premier League, but it is on the higher end of averages. They also face a Brighton side that draws an average of 11.4 fouls per game, meaning they are likely to at least match their season average.
However, they quite commonly commit a high volume of fouls at Craven Cottage, committing 13 fouls or more in four of their six home league games this season. Their average is also lowered by the outlier of their recent home game against Brentford, where they committed just three fouls.
There is a good chance that both teams will commit a relatively high number of fouls on Thursday and Fulham to commit at least 13 fouls seems like the smart bet.
8.15pm: Bournemouth v Tottenham
TV: Amazon Prime Video
Over 3.5 goals
Tottenham’s form has fluctuated drastically in recent weeks, ranging from a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa and a 4-0 victory at Manchester City to defeats against relegation-threatened Ipswich and Crystal Palace. Their most recent outing ended in a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Fulham.
One thing that has been consistent in Tottenham’s game has been goals. Win, lose or draw, Ange Postecoglou’s side have been a constant source of entertainment this season, scoring more goals than any other team in the Premier League and keeping just three clean sheets.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have provided great entertainment over their last five games, scoring 10 goals and conceding nine. Both teams have also found the back of the net in each of Bournemouth’s last five league outings.
All signs point to both sides finding the back of the net on Thursday night and it would be a surprise if this wasn’t a high-scoring thriller.
Brennan Johnson to score anytime
Brennan Johnson has enjoyed a fine run of form since enduring some pretty awful criticism from sections of the Spurs fanbase earlier in the season. The Welsh winger is Spurs’ top scorer in both the Premier League and in all competitions, scoring six in the league and 10 in all competitions.
He has been particularly prolific in away league games for Spurs of late and has also scored in Spurs’ one away trip in the League Cup to date, notching a 92nd-minute winner at Coventry.
Johnson is a different player from the player who barely celebrated in that win over Coventry and is now one of the most likely Spurs players to find the back of the net in any game.
He is not shy of trying his luck, averaging a club-high 2.8 shots per game in the Premier League, and is excellent value to score on Thursday.
