Obviously Tottenham’s results since the City game have been disappointing. It’s just inconsistency. They can’t seem to keep on the same level all the time.
Everyone wants to see the Tottenham that beat Man City every week. It just feels like it’s not going to happen.
It’s been a problem at Spurs all season. They give up so many chances – we saw it against Fulham last weekend and Bournemouth on Thursday.
Considering they’ve been missing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for a while they’ve done alright defensively though. I was slightly concerned when they had to rely on Ben Davies and Radu Drăgușin as centre-halves.
And I like Ange Postecoglou as a manager. Getting them to where they are now from where they were when he took over, it’s chalk and cheese. He’s done a really good job.
But when there are problems like this, you’re going to look at the manager and it just doesn’t seem like you can ever see Tottenham as title contenders because they struggle to get those results against sides they should be good enough to beat.
It’s hard to put your finger on the reason why. They’re the one side in the league that you think could beat anyone but also could lose to anyone.
Even when you’re playing badly against teams you should beat, if you have that elite mentality, you get the job done.
That’s what Liverpool have been doing recently. City have been brilliant at it over the years, and Arsenal in the last few season too.
The top teams do that, and you can’t class Tottenham as a top team until they start doing it too.
Chelsea have looked like they are getting there this season.
They’re full of confidence. They’re sharing the goals around too – they had five different scorers against Southampton and the manager made a lot of changes for that game.
That’s what they can do now too. I’ve covered a lot of their games this season in Europe and the manager can basically change the entire team between the weekend and midweek and there’s not a big drop-off. I know it’s a weaker level of competition but they have a lot of strength in-depth across the squad.
They’re starting to look like a threat to the other teams at the top. At the start of the season, there was a lot of people – myself included – thinking what a disaster it was at Chelsea.
But Enzo Maresca’s come in and really done a good job. They’ve got to be one of the favourites for the top four now, and you could even say they’re in the frame for the league title if they keep going like this.
Chelsea to win
And I think they will on Sunday and get the three points.
The thing is Tottenham could pull out an incredible result again, we know they’re more than capable of doing it.
But Chelsea are on a streak at the moment. Away from home on the break they look very dangerous too and I’d fancy a 2-1 win for them.
Nicolas Jackson to score
I could see them scoring a couple of breakaway goals with their pace up front, and that makes Nicolas Jackson a clear option to score as he’s on fire at the moment.
Cole Palmer to be fouled 2+ times
They’ve a lot of threats in forward positions. Jadon Sancho’s now working his way into the team.
Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, but Cole Palmer is till probably the one most opponents will worry about, so you could see him getting fouled a couple of times in this.
Son Heung-min to have 2+ shots
Son still looks the likeliest scorer for Spurs to me and I’d expect him to have a few shots in a game where there should be chances at both ends.
