Without being disrespectful to Southampton, and I admire the manager Russell Martin, I think they will find it very, very difficult against this Liverpool side. Although, having said that, I watched Southampton and I was impressed with them for 30 minutes earlier in the season.
This is a different proposition. For Liverpool, it’s always a tricky one coming from the international break because you’ve got to think, where all their main players are coming back from? Have they picked up a knock? There’s a lot to factor in.
I fancy Liverpool to kick on though. They’ll win, I fancy 3-1. so a few goals in the game and both teams to score. I really was impressed with Curtis Jones for England last week.
I’ve spoken to people who’ve worked with him who’ve told me how good a player he is and I’ve seen glimpses of what he can do. He’s a fantastic kid to talk to and everyone at Anfield really speak highly of him and his personality.
Now he’s ready to kick on and I’m backing him to continue his goal-scoring form. With Liverpool not playing until the Sunday that will make a massive difference to their players, having that extra night’s rest.
