Celtic (-1)

Hearts might have improved under the management of Neil Critchley, but they are unlikely to be able to live with Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been remarkably powerful domestically this season. Not only have they been winning matches, they have invariably been doing so comfortably. In their 15 victories across all competitions, just one has been by a solitary goal, an away success in Ross County in early October.

The Hoops defeated Hearts 2-0 at home earlier this term and should have the quality to ensure another comfortable victory, even following the international break and away at Tynecastle.

Daizen Maeda to commit 2+  fouls

Deployed as a centre-forward domestically this season, but on the wing in the Champions League, Japan international Maeda has put up big numbers when it comes to committing fouls in the Premiership this season.

Across the last six Premiership games, he’s picked up two fouls in each one – even doing so against Dundee when he came off the bench to play just 34 minutes.

Although he was involved in international football with Japan over the break, he played only 51 minutes while his last action was on Tuesday, giving him a fair amount of recovery time before this encounter.

Kyogo Furuhashi to have 1+ shots on target

Kyogo is Celtic’s runaway leader when it comes to hitting shots on target in the Premiership this season, with the Japanese star mustering up 19 to date. This works out at a rate of 2.44 per 90 minutes.

Impressively, every single Premiership match he’s played so far this season has ended with him having at least one effort that has worked the opposition goalkeeper – even when he’s come off the bench.

Look for him to get big game-time in this match as he has only played 42 minutes since Celtic beat Leipzig more than a fortnight ago, so Rodgers will want him as sharp as possible, before Club Brugge in midweek.

Lawrence Shankland to commit 1 or more fouls

With 24 fouls committed in the Premiership this season, only Toyosi Olusanya has a greater number in the Premiership.

He did not commit a foul on the opening day of the season against Rangers, yet since then, he has committed at least one foul in every Hearts match he’s played. That’s a run of 15 straight games for the Jambos.

When Celtic faced Hearts in September, Shankland committed three fouls and was withdrawn after 80 minutes. He’s rarely taken off by the Tynecastle club and will likely get the duration of this encounter.

Niclas Kuhn to have 1 or more shots on target

Kuhn is one of the Premiership’s leading players when it comes to shots on target. The attacker has 11, which rates fourth among all players in Scotland’s top-flight.

After arriving at Celtic in the summer from Rapid Vienna, he’s picked up the pace offensively in recent weeks, showing his true potential after experiencing a huge explosion when he arrived before a lull thereafter.

Across his last six Celtic games, he’s had at least one shot on target in five matches. Moreover, in each of his last two matches, he’s had three shots with two shots on target.

Having had the international break off, look for his impact to be magnified for Celtic in this game.
