Before that game, Blackburn had suffered defeats to Stoke City (2-0), Sheffield United (2-0) and Watford (1-0) after a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Portsmouth are on a similar run of form, as they also ended a four-match streak without a win by beating Preston North End 3-1 at Fratton Park.

However, Spurs are on an inconsistent run of form heading into this fixture, as Ange Postecoglou’s men had suffered 1-0 and 3-2 defeats to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray on either side of 2-1 and 4-1 victories against Man City and Aston Villa.
